The amendment process in this country is too complicated and too lengthy.

Imagine the alternative, amendments that happen frequently and capriciously.

The public had no read participation in drawing up the first constitution, and there was no plebiscite to approve it. .

There was a ratification same as amendments get.   

Since lobbyists dominate Washington politics, I do not think we'd end up with a better constitution..

Yes that is right.

There are still morons that think that the Electoral College has a useful purpose. It is the one feature that no other country copied. The idea that acreage has relevance is just stupid. .

Oh , does the majority have the absolute right to rob or make the minority miserable?

There won;t be any constitutional convention.

People will continue to buy more and more guns, and there will be more and more mass murders and each time the same idiots will blather on about their sacred right to be able to blow the heads off their fellow citizens. Nothing is going to change..

There was a downward trend to every form of violence until just recently.

Unless there is a REALLY massive mass murder.  Someone wiping out the entire Board of Directors of some corporation.
That might be sufficiently convincing. When the Oligarchy thinks that someone is going to blow their balls off, then action might happen.

There has been no constitutional convention since the first one.
Not even after the Civil War.

It has about the same chance as a Monument to the Mormon War.

Chance has nothing to do with it.  The fact remains, its how the Constitution can be amended.  Without you folks on the left taking the country over by force, to impliment a "new, more progressive Constitution", the rule of law, still is what seperates us from places like Haiti or Uganda.  And the Constitution is the pinnacle for the Rule of Law.
