The Swiss require registration on guns and ammo.  The NRA hates that idea.

Why do the Swiss register guns and ammo?

Is this any good at all in preventing crime?

I need to go see how this works there.

Well this explains some of the confusion, the gun laws of Switzerland are in flux.

Since 2007 the government has tightened up the availability of ammunition and registered stuff they used to ignore.
In 2011 a national referendum rejected further restriction on weapons rights.

This may be a case of fixing something that ain't broke, until it is.

If there are no incidents then we will never know if the registration prevented it or not.

But the fact its that the Swiss are many times less likely to get shot bu bad gun nuts than Americans.

Registration has no means of preventing anything.
