When better batteries are invented and electric companies allow consumers to sell electricity back to the company, it will really take off.
Pickens plan to set up wind farms in Texas was a great plan. Not just great for Pickens, but great for Texas and everyone... except Big Oil, which controls electric power in the Panhandle.
That is why it has gone nowhere. The Texas legislature is easily bought.
