The point is to make you think. And does that quite effectively.

What purpose would a loving God have to create Satan? If God is omniscient and can see into the future, then he knows what a terrible idea it is.

Philosophy is far more interesting than guns, abortion and gay whatever.

  It can be .

But if this is philosophy, what would anti-Christian propaganda look like?

I don't see this as anti-Christian propaganda, just non Christian speculation.

One way to contemplate religious or philosophical beliefs is to assume they are true and speculate upon the motives, in this case, God's motives.
There is no rational reason for a loving God to invent Satan.
This skit suggests that God is not a loving God, but a Machiavellian one.
It is a logical extension of the premise.

I think that the presumption is being made that creation is over, but this need not be so.

If we are not a finished product , but part of an ongoing project , then processes of refinement , tempering , winnowing, and shaping are easy to explain.

I don't think that the full purpose of Satan is really known to us, but from reading in the book of Job, I have the opinion that his role is that of prosecutor and accuser.

There seems to be also a presumption that the purpose of man is to be happy, I don't see the scripture or the logic in this .

Omnipotent suggests a creator that can do anything without limitations.
Creation is over, if you trust the Bible.

The existence of Satan as described is illogical.

Where is the scripture that says God is retired?

Do you really have a sharp idea of how the scriptures describe Satan?

If I am unhappy the universe is all useless, you on the other hand have an overweening idea of the importance of all mankind.

Not at all. We are insignificant creatures,  inhabiting a planet that was clearly not designed for us, considering that it is covered by mostly water, way off on the unfashionable trailing arm of a rather  common galaxy.

The reason why the is a Satan stems from the Manichean religion that was popular in Persia for several centuries in which the Earth and Mankind were temporarily on a battleground between the forces of Light and spiritualism and the forces of Darkness and matter.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Manichaeism

Satan is not mentioned all that much in the Bible. But he is ever so useful in providing the stick in scaring people to become Christians. Christ is the carrot, of course.

And by Christ, I refer to what Jesus became after Paul overhauled him to make him less Jewish and funky.

Then why is it assumed that the main failing of God is that we are not constantly happy?

I think that mos people who have a cat or a dog or even a parrot want their pets to be happy. I think the least that an omnipotent deity could do is treat us at least as well as we treat our Yorkies and Tabbies.

The Book of Genesis gives the clear impression that God  has ceased to be in the construction business and has entered the looking down from the sky and getting millions to praise him business.  I know that there is clearly such a thing as a too worshipful dog, the kind that slobbers all over you whenever given a chance. Cats also can be overly affectionate when they are in the mood for tuna. God as described in the Bible never seems to be repelled by over eager parishioners.

On a couple of occasions I pretended I was God as I listened to a religious program of praise, and I got pretty sick of all that sucking up after only half an hour, forcing me to change the channel to watch a rerun of Gilligan.

Do you know by what process man converted wolf to Yorkie?

    Culling.

No mankind is not kinder than God, not a bit.

That would be your opinion.

I don't think that Yorkies are particularly unhappy.

No animal that people have designed for a particular use is anywhere close to some of the critters God has designed (if you assume he is the guilty party) Malaria, ebola, Guinea worm, elephantiasis, Altzheimers--- all creations of God, according to you.

God gets all the prizes for cruelty.

There is a reason for breeding animals. There is no excuse for all the diseases and parasites and other creations of God.
If you assume that he is the creator.
