Any gun nut who has too few guns will have a good long time to buy more.  One for each hand is all anyone could possibly need to defend himself, unless he figures out how to attach more hands to his body.

Fewer than 45,000 assault-style weapons have been registered in New York state since a landmark gun control act took effect in 2013, state records released Tuesday show, suggesting that Empire State gun owners are largely ignoring one of the signature elements of the watershed legislation.

Nine of ten buying this type of gun is breaking this law.

So it is true , when guns are outlawed , only outlaws will have guns, and there will be a huge number of outlaws.

Law enforcement experts have estimated there could be nearly 1 million assault-style weapons in circulation across the state, suggesting that many New Yorkers are ignoring a central provision of what had been touted by gun control advocates as a milestone law.

In fact, several local police departments and county sheriffs, mostly in pockets of upstate New York where hunting is popular, have been accused of not enforcing parts of the SAFE Act and refusing to encourage local residents to register their assault weapons because their officers were opposed to the law.

“Many people have been calling for a full repeal of the SAFE Act. It would appear the people have just bypassed the legislature and simply repealed it on their own,” said Tom King, president of the Albany-based New York State Rifle and Pistol Association.

One to four years in prison , can be treated as a misdemeanor or a felony depending on aggravating factors.

So is it harder for President Obama to round up and deport eleven or twelve million law-breaking immigrants,  or for Governor Cuomo to lock up a million constituents for one to four years?

No one knows exactly how many so-called assault weapons there are in New York. But the number is likely far more than the 45,000 that have been registered so far. The New York State Police released that number recently, but only after being ordered to by a court.

"The SAFE Act still may be law, but the people of New York state have repealed it on their own," says Tom King, president of the New York State Rifle and Pistol Association. "They're just ignoring the law."

Oh those wild New York people.

I wonder how much scoffing at a law like this one would happen in Idaho, Texas or Georgia?

How many pens & pencils do you own, professor?  I'm assuming, based on your answers to date, no more than 2 of each.  In fact, you really probably only own 1 of each, since its unlikely you write with both hands, at the same time.  If the argument being pushed is what someone should be allowed to have based on how many hands one has, why stop with firearms?

But they aren't. and you don't.

You can easily be killed with a sharp pencil.  But that's not the issue now...it's how many hands someone has, so obviously, you only own no more than 2 pens or pencils, at any given time.  Otherwise your arguement falls flat on its illogical face
