I do not think that there is any such requirement for fingerprints either.

What requirement there is , is that a Judge and Jury must be convinced that the police have done their job well enough.

If some obvious evidence were left ungathered  the defense would certainly have a right to ask why not and provoke doubt .

So how well does the jury pool understand DNA?

  Granted.

    But any winnowing that decreases the access of the public to the jury pool is problematic.

     Would you like stricter qualification of voters in hope of a better election?

I would like to alter the jury selection process and kick the attorneys out it it completely.

    Lawyers are so bad that the only help for them is opposing lawyers.

     Trying to run a legal system , but kicking the lawyers out of the courtroom, would be like enforcing gun free zones, someone would sneak one in and take over.

   How about having fewer lawyers in executive and legislating positions in government?

    I would like it a lot if there were actual scientists running science programs , educators running education comities, Policemen running gun regulation schemes etc..

    It seems as if we have a defacto law that the head of every department and the chair of every committee , and every lawmaker will be a lawyer.

  This seems excessive to me.

I did not say remove the lawyers. I said remove them from the jury selection process.
Each lawyer seeks jurors who will be most influenced by them which means they seek out mostly stupid, unthinking, mostly emotional people.

    We might be able to agree on that point.

     I would prefer a totally random selection, to the system we have now that seems to winnow out the intelligent and well informed.
