i have no objection to the goal but greatly question the method.
I`ll be an asshole and say this even if BLM get every single thing they achieve it will have very little impact to the homicide rate in the african american community and baltimore has proven it may increase it.
Yes.
A paradox is being created , it will be very hard for police to give good service to black citizens, and what we are talking about here is not on the BLM agenda in any realistic way.
Consider that black persons suffer murder more often proportionally than white persons do.
Giving the murder victims some relief would perhaps be done by arresting murderers promptly , or by segregating criminals prone to violence away from the society of good citizens , so that some murders never do happen.
But most of the murderers of black persons are black persons, so a campaign to prevent black persons from being murdered by removing willing murderers, would lock up a lot of black persons. (and a lot more men than women)
So what would a policeman do with the law to reduce the murders that the black people are suffering , while also keeping more black people out of jail?
That is a paradox just as vexing as the paradox of demanding that police be respectful of suspects rights , while also being vigilant for danger from suspects.
We are not demanding anything simple of the police.
