I think a guy tried to marry his laptop as a protest to gay marriage. I looked it up and the man dog one might not count since the dog is female. I'm allergic to cats so i can how locking them up makes sense

  I heard of a case in which a man applied for a marriage license for himself and his horse.

    He was turned down on the basis that the Horse was underage.

       There is more than one point to marriage, for the companionship and reciprocal commitment component the dog , horse or even computer might serve quite well.

            For the social sanction, some exclusivity, even if only technical, would help.
