May Day has come and gone, but did anyone notice how its been completely co-opted and mutated to push a completely alternate political agenda?  Much like what the NAACP used to stand for, but has now mutated into nearly a polar opposite platform, May day was once a celebration of culture, the hanging of baskets, and a celebration of the arrival of Spring

It was however also used by Socialists & Communists to advocate "International Workers' Day", in support of a socialist doctrine

Now, do we ever see any wide spread celebrations, with a swastica?  Do we see any public figures proudly referring to anything Hitler?  The regimes of Stalin & Mao killed far more people than Hitler ever did, yet look at all the celebrations of May Day, that included hammer & sickle.  Under Socialist rule of Stalin, 3 million murdered.  Under Socalist rule of Mao, 45 million killed in a mere 4 years.  These communist/socialist regimes were just as, if not more evil than anything Hitler.  And yet, look how the left has co-opted May Day to literally push support of an ideology that was just as evil as anything related to Hitler and the swastica

I would recommend you read some history about the creation of the 8 hour workday and the choice of May 1, 1886 for that to go into effect, and the Haymarket riots that followed. You will see it has nothing to do with Stalin, Hitler, Mao or even Lenin.

Plane:
What did happen at Haymarket?

MESSER-KRUSE: Yes, I do.

Good discussion of the nature of history.

WEINBERGER: The truth is not a solitary thing that stands by itself, the way ink gets pressed on paper; but rather, it comes from human sources. They're fallible, and they are subject to different points of view and thus, they are in disagreement. And so it seems to me that Wikipedia, in its form - and the Web overall - is a better representation of what human truth is like.

INSKEEP: Even if not everybody can be completely satisfied. Timothy Messer-Kruse, who challenged the common view of the Haymarket trial, still cannot say that he has prevailed. If you look at the Wikipedia entry for the Haymarket affair, it includes his view now, below the quotes of other historians. Generations from now, his version of history might well become accepted truth. For now, he has to be satisfied that at least, he's part of the argument.

There really was a bomb there , but the trial never accused anyone in particular of tossing it.

There really was a conspiracy , or there was not , or people not caught were the conspiracy , the trial transcript changed this professors mind , but was he more right before he dug up the details?

What people want to be right is a thing , if what is really true is not what the people want to be true , then it is another thing.

History being a consensus of how we understand history, don't get smug about understanding even the bit you saw yourself.

And if you read what I wrote, you would see I made no such direct connection.  I would recommend that you read what I wrote....I never claimed that May Day was specifically about Stalin, Hitler, Mao, or Lenin.  I claimed that its been co-opted by hard core leftists to push a hammer & sickle ideology, (violence included, as we note all the reports across the country, such as what happened in Portland Oregon) that is just as, if not a greater evil, than anything Hitler or its emblem, the swastika

Riddle me this.....how is someone who is a member of the communist party any different from someone who is a member of the nazi party?
