ACLU Finding:

NEW REPORT IS BASED ON THOUSANDS OF GOVERNMENT DOCUMENTS OBTAINED THROUGH THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT THAT DETAIL HORRIFIC STORIES  =Under Obama=

Documents obtained by the American Civil Liberties Union featured in a new report released today show the pervasive abuse and neglect of unaccompanied immigrant children detained by U.S. Customs and Border Protection. The report was produced in conjunction with the International Human Rights Clinic at the University of Chicago Law School.

"These documents provide a glimpse into a federal immigration enforcement system marked by brutality and lawlessness," said Mitra Ebadolahi, ACLU Border Litigation Project staff attorney. "All human beings deserve to be treated with dignity and respect regardless of their immigration status, and children, in particular, deserve special protection. The misconduct demonstrated in these records is breathtaking, as is the government?s complete failure to hold officials who abuse their power accountable. The abuse that takes place by government officials is reprehensible and un-American."

The report is based on over 30,000 pages of documents dated between 2009 and 2014. The documents were obtained by the ACLU Foundation of San Diego & Imperial Counties and the ACLU Foundation of Arizona through a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit co-counseled with Cooley LLP. The documents feature numerous cases of shocking violence and abuse against migrant children, many of whom arrived in the United States fleeing violence in their home countries.

"The students reviewing these records were shocked by the abuse and neglect these children were subjected to at the hands of U.S. officials"

basically the whole "kids separated from parents at the border" is leftist sham
bring your kids as "guilt chips" was a way to come in illegally and escape justice
if we arrest parents coming into country with kids....what? do we put the kids in jail with their parents?
so of course the lawbreaking parents will be separated from their kids...hey it's the parents fault
it's the lawless parents fault trying to break the law and get away with by playing sympathy card
it's not going to work anymore
that loophole needs to stop....message needs to be clear....you are not coming in no matter what games you play
F-YOU GO HOME.....we aleady have enough people....enough needy people...enough crowded Hospital ER's....enough crowded DMV offices
we certainly dont need to import more poor people

I wonder where all the outrage was before?

When the Obama White House held more than double the number of children in shelters compared to President Trump?

One word.... Trump.  He has managed to completely cause the left and mainstream media to transition into full derangement mode.  His being elected, was what changed

he still gets complaints for doing nothing. My joke that he can save a bus full of nuns with a cancer cure and still be accused of doing wrong still stands

Majority Of American Voters Blame Parents,
Not Trump For Family Separation Crisis

by Tyler Durden

Fri, 06/22/2018

A majority of likely voters think illegal immigrant parents are more to blame for the latest immigration crisis than the Trump administration, according to a Rasmussen poll released Thursday.

When migrant families are caught illegally crossing the southwest border and subsequently separated for criminal prosecution, 54 percent of American voters say the adults are to blame for breaking the law.

Only 35 percent believe the government is at fault for enforcing the law, while 11 percent are unsure of who is more to blame.

Rasmussen Reports' latest national telephone and online survey of 1,000 likely voters was conducted June 19-20. It has a margin of error of 3 percentage points and a 95 percent level of confidence.

The poll comes as President Donald Trump continues to deal with the political fallout from his decision to implement a "zero-tolerance" policy against illegal border crossing. Under the policy, the Justice Department is prosecuting as many cases of illegal entry as possible, even against defendants who were traveling with children at the time they were arrested.

The aggressive prosecution strategy has caused a spike in the number of migrant families being separated at the border, since federal law prohibits holding children with their parents in criminal detention facilities. More than 2,300 migrant children were separated from family units that were caught crossing the border illegally between May 5 and June 9, according to Customs and Border Protection statistics released Tuesday.

Immigration activists and Trump's Democratic opponents have called the policy cruel and inhumane, with many likening it to the U.S. government's internment of Japanese-Americans or even Nazi concentration camps during WWII. Under intense political pressure, Trump issued an executive order Wednesday requiring the government to keep families in immigration detention together while the adults are prosecuted.

Predictably, the question of who is to blame for the family separation crisis depends on the respondent's political orientation, according to the Rasmussen poll. Of voters affiliated with the Republican Party, 82 percent think parents are more to blame for breaking the law. But 60 percent of Democratic voters say the government is primarily to blame.

Independents tend to align with the Republican point of view on the family separation issue: 56 percent of voters not affiliated with either major political party say parents are more to blame for breaking the law.

The poll results also indicate that Trump's tough approach to border enforcement is broadly popular with his Republican base and, critically, independent swing voters. A majority, 54 percent, of likely voters agree with Trump's remarks from Monday that "The United States will not be a migrant camp. And it will not be a refugee-holding facility, it won't be."

Just 30 percent disagree with that statement, while 16 percent are undecided.

My question is how where they detained. Did they plow through or simply just show up. If they just showed up were they given the option to go legally or simply detained on the spot.

Does no tolerance mean if someone unknowingly crosses a border while jogging get detained? Im stating incident in canada. I get news from family there also
