Deep Throat leaked anonymously , this might have been a good idea for him and might be the way to go when the corrupted ones you are blowing the whistle on are powerfull.

Don't you get it? These whistleblowers, they're just idealists with no understanding of the practical aspects of the situation. They have no understanding of the pressure involved in making the kind of day to day decisions which these people who are being reported have to make.

(That wasn't too sarcastic, was it?)
Your reality, sir, is lies and balderdash and I'm delighted to say that I have no grasp of it whatsoever.

Deep Throat wasn't anonymous to Woodward and Bernstein.

Who should this guy have trusted?

Naaah.

Nothing this administration does surprises me anymore. I mean, after 'losing' hundreds of millions of dollars in cash that was distributed with no records kept, 'losing' thousands of weapons, paying exhorbitant amounts for no-bid contracts that provide dubious services, and on and on, ad nauseum, what else would you expect? Fraud, waste and abuse is always going to be around when government bureaucracies are involved, but this gang has taken them to new highs. Or lows.

Karen Silkwood, Frank Serpico, there are many others.

Yeah. She had also previously testified to the AEC about lax safety standards at the nuclear plant she worked at.

Now this is different than your original comment. You stated that they don't become heroes. Those DID become heroes.

Many just get new jobs (sometimes in different careers) and / or settle with their former employers for multi-million dollar amounts and live a life of quiet obscurity. Based on this comment ("doing much better") - the whistle blowers in this category, the ones you never hear from again, are meeting that goal of "doing much better."
