Only time will tell if Michael Vick has learned the error of his ways.

I have very little patience for people like PETA. They seriously need to get a life!

I offered to take one of them out for a hunt last year. Can't repeat what he said.

His loss.

I don't give a shit if Michael Vick learns a lesson.  It still shows a personality disorder that will only be curbed because of public pressure.

We teach our children to be kind to living things... we bond with puppies and kittens... we exhibit in 4 H clubs and learn true lessons about compassion.

It is a great stepping stone for our children to learn how to be compassionate to others.

Likewise... a child that kills animals (because he can) often grows up to be a serial killer type.

AND NO I don't mean hunting.  That said, I don't think we should hunt just kill... we damn well better be making use of the animal.

I think jeffery dahmer is a good example
but not sure he`s a serial killer he only targeted gays and minorities because the police will not bother to look for them
in fact the police even help returned one that ranaway back to him.

I don't know why PETA gets so much flak here.  Some of their positions are extreme to some people but they do a lot of good work in exposing cruelty to animals in the laboratories and the slaughterhouses.  Some of their exposes were truly horrific, as bad as anything could be.  I don't believe in cruelty to animals going unpunished.  It's a terrible thing and if PETA blows the whistle on some of those abuses, who the hell cares if they also go after hunters?  Unlike the animals, the hunters can take care of themselves.  And they've got the NRA on their side.

BTW, I've fished, but I've never hunted.  Gave up fishing on ethical grounds, a lot of unnecessary pain and killing of beautiful creatures who had a life to live, all for no purpose.  Hunting for sport I always thought would have been more of a sport if the victims were armed and could shoot back.

extremists often do as much harm as they do good.  Have you ever been to a dog show were they come in and let all of the animals loose?  Here is what happens... they frighten them out of their crates and they run out into traffic causing accidents and getting killed.  Let us presume that 1. the drivers have no dog in this fight... 2. many of the drivers are animal lovers (and probably have pets at home) and 3. the owners and dogs loved each other.

now let's go to a cat show... and because these cats are in cages (albeit with lovely curtains, hammocks, toys and only the very best food) and they spray antifreeze on the animal.  It dies a terrible death and breaks the owners heart.

I fish also, but I tend to do catch and release.  The beautiful creature bit... well just about everything is somethings dinner.

regarding the victims being able to shoot back... I thought you opposed war?

I didn't know that PETA sprayed anti-freeze on cats.  Sure sounds like animal cruelty to me.  What was the point?

The dogs getting into traffic may have been an unintended consequence of an action that basically was making some valid points, those animals have lives to lead, they weren't meant to be somebody's ornament.  Although I guess it's a question of picking your battles, dog and cat shows seem to be pretty petty examples of cruelty to animals when there is so much worse stuff to go after.

I remember them best for their factory-farming and slaughterhouse exposes, also the lab-testing stuff.  They did a fantastic job in bringing all that to the public's attention.

What really turned me off fishing was baiting hooks with worms, minnows and little frogs.  Fuck that.  If there's an afterlife and it has a retributive component, I'm in for a world of pain.  And as far as everything being something's dinner, while it's all true, I was never really hungry when fishing.  Always plenty to eat before, during and after.

Of course, part of the backlash is in their hypocrisy - they run their own "slaughterhouses."

I guess I don't understand "petty."  Point being... these are pets that are beautiful and are being shown for that reason... that some of the shows (dog) are outside with parking lots and 8 lanes of traffic surrounding them... well hardly a surprise that they get scared and bolt.  It is a very INTENDED consequence.  PETA believes better dead than being kept (and loved) by a human.

Regarding not being hungry... my point was that other beautiful fishes, etc eat the smaller beautiful fishes.  Seen that ad were the killer forces a seal to jump 10 foot out of the water only to be eaten.  Are you a VEGAN?  (that is not meant in a challenging way... just curious.  I eat meat, fish and fowl but tend to eat very small portions - probably between 3 to 5 oz at my main meal... 3 oz if it is red.)

Interesting. Fishing is more than Trout Fishing in America, I suppose.

There's the pleasure of the "hunt". The respect for the animal returning it to it's native waters. Then there's the type of "fishing" where one hikes for two days up 14,000 feet to Wheeler Peak, camping over a couple of nights, fishing in a nature (non made lake) and the taste of the trout is delightful, indeed.
There's so much more to fishing that meets the tastebuds.

No, I tried going vegetarian for ethical reasons but after about three weeks of it I got very bad stomach aches so I quit.  Then later I became a diabetic and the doctor says don't fuck around with it (vegetarianism, etc.)  THEN, I got a heart attack and recovered but the doctor said, "Anything you like, you can't eat."  So I had to quit eating steaks, roast beef, souvlaki, pizza, baconburgers - - everything I loved.  Only I didn't really quit - - just cut back quite a bit.  Makes it taste all the better on those rare-treat days - - birthdays, anniversaries, weddings, bar mitzvahs, funerals, christenings, circumcisions, Remembrance Day, Buddha's Birthday, Tuesdays, etc.

My daughter-in-law and future son-in-law are vegetarians but the daughter-in-law will eat fish.  Reminds me of an old conversation, 1st hippie, probably similar in diet to my daughter-in-law, "I don't eat anything that has a face."
Second hippie, "I don't eat anything that has a driver's licence."

That's funny.

MT.....My father had a heart problem. He swears by The Sugar Busters Diet book.
I just found out that I have to take meds for high blood pressure. Lanya will remember this. She recommended that I check that out ASAP...and I did. MEDs..damn, I have to take Lisinopril for now. I feel old.

Food......steamed, no salt, fresh, low fat, no white flour, ............I'm old. Damn!

I`m worst
everything is starting to not taste good
I`m eat more vegetable and less meat because my texture preference has change-crunchy stuff-less chewing
but I`m still having trouble dealing with that dirt flavour vegetables tend to have
i have to eat fruits more but I`m not a big sweets eater and  it gets boring fast

that`s the problem
note -we say eat vegie because it`s healthy
very few in this country is trying to make the stuff edible.
how often have we heard it taste good when talking about healthy food.
I`ll bet very rarely
budhist monks made their food taste like meat and they`re more strict than vegans
Indian food has tons of flavour and most of it is vegetable.
real chinese food use meat to flavour the food
so it`s actually very little meat at all
I use chiken broth to steam vegetables
and cook rice
compared to what I used to eat I should not get any complaints.
before I used to hear
would you like pancake with that butter
