Js is kinda the PC police around these parts.  It appears that anything that doesn't conform to operational educated verbal models, that of course he is fully versed in, is thus designated bigoted and/or racist.        :-\

Something about a lack of humor, is my guess

Not at all Sirs, I just don't find racism humorous.

Funny, NEITHER DO I.  Newsflash Js, a bad joke doesn't equal bigotry or racism.  Sometimes it just means a bad joke.

JS, this book will open your eyes greatly:

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0895261715/vdare

I have several copies if you need one. I should be back in the States end of next week or so unless events sour. I could ship a copy to you then.

JS --->  Mr Percpetive <--Henny

That's ridiculous. You suggestion would require for us to strategically plan to corner you in a debate. How about the idea that 2 people have similar opinions and happened to be in the forum at the same time? We are both Guns of August after all.

It becomes more like:

Paranoid ---> Mr. Perceptive <---Paranoid

No, Sirs, I don't think JS is the PC police. However, I see a similar insensitivity in many debates (note: from many people) where it is generally accepted to refer to Arabs in less than human terms or make rude jokes about the culture. It bothers me too; I see it as a double standard and such remarks show an acute ignorance of the race and culture.

IMO, JS is just calling it likes he sees it.

Now looks who's paranoid. Not a biggie, Henny.

How did you like the Presidential Palace? Is the rightmost column still dented? Next time you are over there, ask how it happened.

I hope you do not believe I made jokes about Arab culture. I did not jest in my exchanges. And, it should be made clear that Arabs are humans as the rest of us. We all use many pschological filters in which we filter external stimuli, whether they are religious/cultural ,etc. My filter is vastly different from the Arab supra-cultural extant.

I'm not one to embrace stereotypes, at all, yet especially in the wake of recent terrorist plots and open hostility it would not be too much to ask Arabs to at least share the burden equally about getting "facts about feelings" straight.

No, Sirs, I don't think JS is the PC police. ....IMO, JS is just calling it likes he sees it.

And IMHO, both you and Js are being acutely oversensitive regarding the subject of Islam.  Case in point, that article you initiated, referencing how so many Muslims are apparently concerned about Bush waging some crusade against all of Islam.  Besides being ludicrous, there's not 1 shred of evidence to support such a hyperbolic accusation, yet there you were posting it, and even finding some pertinent concepts of concern apparently, when the originating premise is so flawed to begin with.

Now, I can respect your concerns and sensitivity towards your religion & culture.  I'm the same when Christianity is getting bashed mercilessly, when it's so uncalled for.  Point being, Js has, frequently in fact, defended the PC position numerus times.  I even started a thread once asking for examples of PC at it's worst, and Js was quick to defend how such positions are apparently often nececessary, because issues are so "complex", that such "simplistic conclusions" are at worst stupid and at most racist or bigoted

I don't recall that conversation going quite as you claim, will you provide a link?

But yes, this is how I conduct myself with other people. You can attack it all you like, but you'll note that there are no Muslims or Arabs here to defend their culture and society (Henny is not a Muslim as you assumed in your post).

I don't put people on the defensive immediately by denigrating their  race, colour, descent, or national or ethnic origin. I also dislike it when people attack others based solely on their sexuality as well. Yesterday, in fact, I overheard an account tech here talking loudly about how she would "never accept men and men or women and women..." she went on and on for a few minutes on this. Unfortunately, sexuality is not a protected class where I work. But think about how that effects the working environment for any homosexuals that might work here.

So PC is an oft-mocked term. I could care less, to me it is just an extension of the Golden Rule.

Now, I have a few really good friends from the UK. One is Scottish, one Welsh, a few English, and an Irishman (I didn't plan it that way...LOL). When we are talking, in private, we'll make jokes like there's no tomorrow about one another's culture. I always have the daunting task of defending both American and German societies. But I know that it is in fun and I know that none of them take it personally, and neither do I.

On the other hand, I once had a Honda car salesman make the cliche acronym jokes about other car companies:

Ford - Found on Road Dead
Buick - Big Ugly Indestructable Car Killer
Dodge - Drips Oil, Drops Grease Everywhere
GM - Got Mechanic?

Then we got to Pontiac. Those familiar with these ancient jokes already know this one. I have no idea why this guy was spouting these off anyway.

But I left.

Call it PC, bleeding heart liberal, or whatever you wish, but if it is racist - I'm going to tell you.
I smell something burning, hope it's just my brains.
They're only dropping peppermints and daisy-chains
So stuff my nose with garlic
   Coat my eyes with butter
   Fill my ears with silver
   Stick my legs in plaster
   Tell me lies about Vietnam.

So, we can count on you call people out when they denigrate a national or ethnic group?

The founder of the National Review and staunch Heirtage Foundation member? I'm guessing it is a piece of real academic integrity, eh?

Actually, I don't mind reading those every once in a while. Kirk is interesting because he takes the same view of Christianity as early French Fascists did. That in essence, it doesn't matter if Christianity (or religion in general) is right or wrong, it must exist and be believed strictly for its structural benefits to society.

When I have time to delve back into the archives of titles, I'll endeavor to find that thread, that I initiated.  I think it had PC in it.

A) I knew before you that Miss Henny is not Muslim, and B) NO ONE IS ATTACKING ARABS or their culture, near to the level of attacking those elements that have hijacked the religion of Islam and are using it to justify murder of innocent men, women & children, with the reference that the reason they are killed is that they are not Muslims practicing Islam, or have converted, or are willing to subjugate themselves to it

So PC is an oft-mocked term. I could care less, to me it is just an extension of the Golden Rule.

Not in my book, as that thread I initiated made painfully clear.  Your "extension" literally puts many more people at risk, for fear of "offending" someone

Call it PC, bleeding heart liberal, or whatever you wish, but if it is racist - I'm going to tell you.

I call racism, racism.  I call PC, PC.  I'm actually able to differentiate between the 2.  But as Ami referenced, we look forward to you pounding Tee & Terra over and over and over again, with their much more in your face level of racist commentary, Uncle Toms coming to mind most recently

Wow.

Deflection. I actually thought we might have a decent discussion too.
