Point being, Js has, frequently in fact, defended the PC position numerus times. I even started a thread once asking for examples of PC at it's worst, and Js was quick to defend how such positions are apparently often nececessary, because issues are so "complex", that such "simplistic conclusions" are at worst stupid and at most racist or bigoted
I don't recall that conversation going quite as you claim, will you provide a link?
But yes, this is how I conduct myself with other people. You can attack it all you like, but you'll note that there are no Muslims or Arabs here to defend their culture and society (Henny is not a Muslim as you assumed in your post).
I don't put people on the defensive immediately by denigrating their race, colour, descent, or national or ethnic origin. I also dislike it when people attack others based solely on their sexuality as well. Yesterday, in fact, I overheard an account tech here talking loudly about how she would "never accept men and men or women and women..." she went on and on for a few minutes on this. Unfortunately, sexuality is not a protected class where I work. But think about how that effects the working environment for any homosexuals that might work here.
So PC is an oft-mocked term. I could care less, to me it is just an extension of the Golden Rule.
Now, I have a few really good friends from the UK. One is Scottish, one Welsh, a few English, and an Irishman (I didn't plan it that way...LOL). When we are talking, in private, we'll make jokes like there's no tomorrow about one another's culture. I always have the daunting task of defending both American and German societies. But I know that it is in fun and I know that none of them take it personally, and neither do I.
On the other hand, I once had a Honda car salesman make the cliche acronym jokes about other car companies:
Ford - Found on Road Dead
Buick - Big Ugly Indestructable Car Killer
Dodge - Drips Oil, Drops Grease Everywhere
GM - Got Mechanic?
Then we got to Pontiac. Those familiar with these ancient jokes already know this one. I have no idea why this guy was spouting these off anyway.
But I left.
Call it PC, bleeding heart liberal, or whatever you wish, but if it is racist - I'm going to tell you.
