WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President George W. Bush and the U.S. Congress registered record-low approval ratings in a Reuters/Zogby poll released on Wednesday, and a new monthly index measuring the mood of Americans dipped slightly on deepening worries about the economy.

Only 29 percent of Americans gave Bush a positive grade for his job performance, below his worst Zogby poll mark of 30 percent in March. A paltry 11 percent rated Congress positively, beating the previous low of 14 percent in July.

Need anyone explain why this is a totally meaningless statistic?

People DO vote for the president.

People do NOT vote for the Senate or the House, only for one representative and one senator at a time.

It is easier to find some fault with 535 representatives and senators than with one president.

You could dislike Byrd's age, Craig's bathroom habits, Warner's eyebrows, Lott's diction, whatever.

Why don't you go find more Christians to unite with and form that smaller government you somehow beileve in?

I would say that a smaller government in a growing company is akin to the Tooth Fairy. An unlikely, mythological beast. Less likely than the marriage of Adam and Steve.

I agree with the invasion. And all the reasons for doing so.

Some more than others but the sum total of the reasons still make sense.
