When I saw the subject line, I thought it referred to charges against the COPS.  Turns out to be charges against the student.  The cops probably weren't even charged.

The cops probably weren't even charged.

Why would the cops be charged? Their actions were reviewed by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement who determined that they were "an appropriate use of force."

Anyway, the charges have not really been dropped yet - he still has to complete 18 months of probation first.

It's all part of the plea bargain - and since he pled to a lesser charge, we know he's guilty of the greater charge...

I don't see a problem. The student seemed genuinely sorry for what he had done and even apologized to the officers directly afterward. It sounds like a "heat of the moment" type matter that resulted in behavior that was probably atypical for this individual.

I'm not sure that tazing was really necessary. Was it the campus police who did the tazing?

There was no way that the cops were justified to taze this guy, or even to drag him away from the podium. The mike was turned off, and the meeting was over.

They should have apologized to him.

Kerry should have stopped them, and answered the damn question as well.

So, are you against all felony arrests? Or only some?

Only some. When the police witness a felony in progress (as in this case), or a complaint is sworn out, I'll all for them.

Just the fake felony arrests that are really arrests for exercising one's freedom of speech in public.

Then you shouldn't have had a problem with this one - they showed him fighting the police on video.

Yeah - - fighting for his right to speak out freely in a public place, which they were trying to take away from him.  Fighting fascism.

Amazing how fighting the police is now "fighting fascism".  This coming from the same side that can't wait to pass the so-called "fairness doctrine".  Gotta love that alternate reality that the rabid left lives in      :-\

Last time I checked, a private school lecture hall was far from being a "public place."

Do the private colleges in Canada let the general public just wander through all their classrooms at any hour of the day?
