There are no taxes in North Korea. The people work for the state. The state takes their labor, and pays them what it wishes. They don't pay taxes there as we do here. Or as almost everyone does everywhere.

This strikes me as an ultimate sort of socialism.

Well, it isn't. North Korea is a monarchy that claims to be communist.

I can accept that.

It was their claim to be communist that legitimised the establishment of the kingdom.

I don't think anyone seriously considers the Kim government to be truly communist. It is simply a monarchy. The tales about the origins of Kim and his father are as wacky as those told about Hirohito's clan. Something between a Jesus story and a superhero tale.

You mean no one outside of N. Korea.

Inside North Korea Kim is admired with an enforced admiration and Marxism is interpreted thru his wisdom.

That is what they would have us believe.

Kim has a police state apparatus on his side.

When Franco died, they predicted that after so long under Fascism, the Falangistas would get at least 40% of the vote.

They got 11%, and that was an all-time high.
