Medical Tourism

My goodness, on the news tonight there was a story about a woman who had rhematoid arthritis and after searing the internet decided to trave to India for the operation she needed. The entire medical procedure cost her only $8000.00 as opposed to 25 grand here in the states. She stayed in a 5 star hotel too boot.
That's amazing. Could this be the new wave of the medical future?

She has since had a full recovery and is back to work in NM.

wow. amazing story.

This has been going on for years.  Americans have also been going to Mexican clinics for treatment, but sometimes with very bad results.  India now seems like it could deliver good-quality care, but I don't know if any real study of their facilities has been done.

Mexican clinics are capable of great work, but the government there allows some unqualified doctors to start clinics.
The successes are unpublicized, but everyone hears about the ones they bungle.

India has the distinction that nearly all the doctors involved speak English with rather distinguished accents. The same is true of Singapore.

don`t forget more advance medical procedures
they use stuff still under review in the U.S.
ex. newer  types of artificial hips
our laws(for good reason) do slow down the availability of drugs and technology.
but it allow other countries to pass us by in use of these items
ex. japan
