This is true. The military wanted more resources for several reasons. One if that military planners are notoriously liberal in their assessment of the enemy, therefore this requires overwhelming force. After all, if your enemy i brighter and larger than it may appear, then you need More and better trioops to subdue him. Logical, actually. It Is more effective to go into conflict with MORE troops than you really expect to need. This enhances your odds of dominating your enemy and a shorter conflict should herefore ensue. Rumsfield, being the idiot that he is, felt he knew more than the military planners. The vacuum between his ears could be used in any scientific experiments. After all, why go to the SpaceStaiton to do experiments in vacuum when you have HIS?
