I hardly think assigning blame is the prize here. If you are trying to hang the clothes on the line, and Fido keeps pulling them down, it's Fido who deserves the kicks, not you. Use your head.
But the prize is the money you have already invested, and the promise that was made to you. If you are an absolute fool, you will continue to vote for the obstructionist Republicans, so the people who are trying to fix the problem can't get it done. Then, after all the money is pissed away on useless wars and unneeded weapons and tax breaks for the bazillionaires among whom you were never permitted to frolic, you can yell "I won! I won't and it's all the Democrats' fault."
The Republicans think that government is the problem, and when they are in charge of the government, it becomes a problem, because those who want to shrink it, can't, and that leaves those who see the possibilities of looting it and blaming everything on the theory that governments can't do anything.
When Republicans say that government per se is the problem, this becomes a self-fulfilling prophesy.

Why lose a useless war and a trillion dollars, when you can still lose it and two trillion dollars, especially if you can invest in the people who are looting the system? This is a prime example of how the GOP strategy works.
