25 Reasons You May be a Racist

25 Reasons You May be a Racist   [Peter Kirsanow]

The tendency of Obama supporters to see racist impulses behind every criticism of their candidate has  evolved into absurdity. Now even the first  black president feels compelled to declare he's not a racist. By this measure, nearly every American is at risk of being branded a racist at some point in the campaign. To assess whether you're at risk just consult the list below ( apologies to Jeff Foxworthy ):

1.If you think Obama's the most liberal member of the senate you...may be a racist.

2.If you object to Obama raising your payroll, capital gains and estate taxes you...may be a racist.

3.If you'd prefer a president have at least some foreign policy experience you...may be a racist.

4. If you're in favor of drilling for oil and building nuclear power plants you...may be a racist.

5. If you think "Vero Possemus" is Latin for "Massive Ego" you... may be a racist.

6. If you wonder why Obama was hanging around William Ayers and Bernadine Dohrn you...may be a racist.

7. If your pastor is nothing like Rev. Wright or Father Pfleger you... may be a racist.

8.If you don't want the majority of justices on the Supreme Court to be like Stephen Breyer you...may be a racist.

9. If you're not impressed with Obama's 100% NARAL rating you...may be a racist.

10. If you're not sure whether Obama opposed or supported FISA reauthorization you...may be a racist.

11. If you  don't think America is a "downright mean" country you...may be a racist.

12. If you think Obama should've visited wounded troops at Ramstein and Landstuhl you...may be a racist.

13. If you think the surge is working and that's a good thing you...may be a racist.

14. If you oppose racial preferences in employment, school admissions and contracting you...may be a racist.

15. If you  think "we are the change we've been waiting for" is a line from a Monty Python skit you...may be a racist.

16. If you prefer that a president have a smidgen of executive experience you...may be a racist.

17. If you're appalled that Obama voted against  treating infants born after an abortion attempt  the same medically  as other infants born alive you...may be a racist.

18. If you were proud of your country even before Obama's candidacy you...may be a racist.

20. If you don't think American troops are just "air raiding villages" you...may be a racist.

21. If your grandmother isn't a "typical white person" you...may be a racist.

22. If you don't think rural, working class people are bitter and "cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren't like them" you...may be a racist.

23. If you're not sure invading Pakistan is a particularly good idea?what with their nuclear weapons and all? you...may be a racist.

24. If you don't want the president to meet without precondition with the leaders of state sponsors of terror you...may be a racist.

25. If you don't care how Hollywood or the European elite think you should vote you...may be a racist.

This campaign has, to paraphrase Moynihan, defined racism down.

The whole thing is premised on the assumption that Barak and his supporters respond to every legitimate non-racist criticism with false cries of racism.  Since the whole premise is demonstrably false, the piece falls flat on its face.  It's contemptible.  The "humour" is the humour of a racist who thinks it's funny to belittle people because of their race and funnier yet when they dare to object.

One of the good things about the Obama campaign is that a lot of the buried racism is rising from the ground.  The thought of a black commander in chief, a black chief executive officer of the state, a black man representing the U.S.A., is deeply disturbing to the millions and millions of the closet racists of America, and it's starting to show where the thin veneer of supposed "tolerance" has started to wear a little thin.  Whatever shreds of moral authority America might still have are starting to fray.  It's interesting to see what lies beneath the whiting on the sepulchre.

Such is the devine effort to lay the foundation that any defeat of Obama would not be because of the clear lack of judgement & leadership skills to run this country, but because he's black.  Kinda like Charles Rangel with the hyperbolic & asanine claim that "They don't say sp%@ks or ni##@rs any more, they just say, 'let's cut taxes'"

Pretty pathetic

So Obama and most of his supporters do not inappropriately respond to every criticism by claiming racism , just you?

<<Such is the devine effort to lay the foundation that any defeat of Obama would not be because of the clear lack of judgement & leadership skills to run this country, but because he's black.

It's really interesting to see how the wacko right wing reads stuff into my posts all the time that aren't there.  It's interesting because it's a window into THEIR minds.  They "KNOW" (because they think everyone's as racist as they are) that a black man won't stand a chance, and they're guilty because they "know" that it's because of their (and by extension, all of America's) racism.  So in their mind, Obama's already lost the election and they know why.  They are defending in advance against the cries of "racism" from the losing side, cries which they KNOW are coming because they know that THEY themselves are racist.

I have laid out at least one scenario in which Obama could lose, not because of his colour.  I have said that if he appeals too much to the War Party, he still won't get their votes but he will lose his original base, which is what made him a phenomenon in the first place.  So it's nonsense for any right-wing extremist to accuse me of what I never said.  But at the same time, I can understand why they do it.  It's to provide an excuse ahead of time for the defeat which they think their own racism (and by extension, the whole country's) will unfairly inflict on Obama.  Forget it guys, the days when the whole country was just as racist as your are have long gone.  Obama's got a shot at this election.  In fact, IMHO, it's his to lose.

<<Kinda like Charles Rangel with the hyperbolic & asanine claim that "They don't say sp%@ks or ni##@rs any more, they just say, 'let's cut taxes'">>

Well, I understand his point.  The programs that suffer the most from tax cuts are those that provide social welfare benefits to the underprivileged, which includes many blacks and Hispanics.  That's why white racist legislators can make the cuts - - they don't give a shit what happens to the people who depended on the programs for a better life, because most of them aren't white European-descended suburbanites.  There's nothing hyperbolic or asinine about it - - he's just describing the way it is.

The majority of welfare recipients are white.

Non-whites make up a disproportionate number of welfare recipients.  Even if the majority of recipients are white, that is only because the majority of the general population is white.  The legislators are so out of touch with their poorer recipients they probably have a perception of welfare recipients as mostly non-whites, and therefore have no problem cutting funding to programs which benefit the underclass, even though there may be more whites receiving benefits than the legislators realize.  And anyway, they probably don't give a shit about poor whites either.

Precisely why your slur was wrong headed. Politicians don't care about black or white, rich or poor, they care about votes.

Welfare recipients vote, so do gainfully employed taxpayers who fund welfare. It's a balancing act. So you will have a safety net, but it won't be an onerous burden on the taxpayer, ie it will have limits and it will be a frequent target for reform.

and in the end the only colar that matters is green.

<<Politicians don't care about black or white, rich or poor, they care about votes. >>

And votes come from bases.  A white racist base, a black welfare recipient base (which I understand is largely non-voting) etc.

Politicians are people too - - they can also be racists.  Works for some, won't work for others.  Today they gotta talk to other racists, potential voters, in code, but at heart they are still racists.  How could they not be, it's an uphill struggle when the whole fucking country was founded on the extermination of the Indians and the the enslavement of the blacks?  Racism is engrained for generations in the American psyche, only fools would deny that, the ones who are fighting it at least admit the problem.

Americans can choose to be part of the solution or part of the problem.  Looks like you've already made your choice but that doesn't mean others can't or won't choose differently.  Many of them already have.  That's why I think Obama's still got a better-than-average shot here.

Maybe I misunderstood your last post.  What did "start applying" mean?

What's the point in being part of the solution if you are constantly being accused of being part of the problem.

Gee, I dunno, what's the point of fighting for the right to vote if you are constantly accused of being too dumb, lazy and irresponsible to exercise it?

When did YOU become Mr. Passivity?
