Top Obama surrogate injects race into the campaign
« on: October 13, 2008, 07:28:21 PM »
What I am seeing reminds me too much of another destructive period in American history. Sen. McCain and Gov. Palin are sowing the seeds of hatred and division, and there is no need for this hostility in our political discourse.

George Wallace never threw a bomb.  He never fired a gun, but he created the climate and the conditions that encouraged vicious attacks against innocent Americans who were simply trying to exercise their constitutional rights. Because of this atmosphere of hate, four little girls were killed on Sunday morning when a church was bombed in Birmingham, Alabama.

That is hard to argue with. In any mob, the loudest and most extreme voice tends to take charge.

Then there are lone, disaffected guys like McVeigh that see the siege at Waco and the Battle of Ruby Ridge to be the last straw, perpetrated by the same conspirators that kept  Tim out of th Special Forces and wearing a nifty Special beret.

Either way, McCain and Palin need to tone this down or it will backfire on them, and the rest of the country as well.

A little girl who survived that bombing learned to speak Russian and became an expert on Russia and the Soviet Union, eventually she became Secretary of state.

I think Condoleeza was in Birmingham at the time, but she wasn't in that church basement.

Chances are if there had been no bombing, she would still sbe where she is today,

And she was a young member of that Church.

If that Bombing had never happened those Four young girls might have matured into remarkable people also.

Entirely possible. Statistically improbable that they would have been secretaries of state, but possible.

So perhaps accusing Obama of being a 'terrorist', a "Muslim fanatic' and an 'Arab' is less than a great idea.
This stuff about "we don't really know who Obama is"  seems to be just a psychologically more clever way to say the same thing. The Colombian guy that runs the printshop near my house is convinced that Obama is a Muslim fanatic. "everybody says so." He says. On the radio. And of course he means Armando Perez Roura and the rest of the Cuban clowns at Radio Mambi.
