What a writer! He'll be missed.

The book I remember most is sphere
The reason is the story was just terrible science fiction,but his writing is so readable I still finished the book.
everybody i know who read the book hated the story but still finished the book.
It`s a testament on his talent as a writer to be able to do this.

if only we teach this style of writing for textbooks
one of the problem with education is it just so dry for kids to learn stuff

There is actually a lot of great children's literature  in the primary grades. The text books we use in the classroom are written to inform......  (social studies and science). But, then again I can't speak for the Mid Schools and High Schools.

I like timeline
but I did get upset with crichton`s fascination with amusement parks
he just can`t let it got.
I love the concept you can`t change time even if you want to.

I think the movie sucks though

The ability to keep the reader reading is not the same as the ability to entertain the reader. Crichton was really good at putting "hooks" in his stories, so that the reader is forced to keep reading.

My favorite writer, and I say this because I have read everything he has written, was James Michener. He always told a great story, he kept your interest through sometimes a thousand pages, and he made you understand the particular historical period better.

My second favorites, and I really can't choose between them, are Mark Twain and Kurt Vonnegut, because they are funny and change your perspective on life to a point where you can see the humor and irony in it.

I liked Crichton okay, but he wasn't my favorite. Still, I am sorry he died.

Somehow I missed this in the news.  Crichton was one of my favorites (as was Vonnegut).  It's a good thing that McCarthy is still around, or all of my favorites would be gone.

Eaters of the Dead was my favorite book of his, but I enjoyed them all.
