Discrimination?
« on: February 16, 2010, 05:55:05 PM »
Is discrimination only illegal if it is based on race, color,
religion, sex, handicap, familial status, or national origin?

Is pretty much any other discrimination legal?

The NBA discriminates against short basketball players. The NFL hires no dwarves. A 300 lb. man cannot expect to be hired as a jockey. Voters are less likely to vote for a candidate named Hitler, Eichmann, Goebbels, Outlaw, or Lipshitz, not to mention unpronounceable names.

Ok so if I buy a rental property...

I can legally put in the lease that the tenant can not have a dog or dogs & can not be a smoker?

Depends on the laws of your state.

But as far as i know there is no law against requiring a 10k deposit for pets and smoking.

What if I am in Georgia and i want to build a smokeing room & restraunt?

That is a restraunt in which no obsticle to smokeing is presented and non-smokers are asked to remain outside?

I suppose I would have to hire smoking cooks and waiters.

I wonder how hard it would be to sell a house brand of cigar?

Yes; when I had rental property "no pets" and "no smoking" were both written into the lease.

I think it would have to be a private club to do that.

I think habits are covered differently in the laws.

businesses nowadys can request employees to quit smoking due to insurance cost.

kevin smith has trouble flying southwest because of his eating habits.

I'm not really anti-smoking as far as I think you should be able to have an establisment like a "smokers bar"

Dont like the smoke?....Dont go there or work there.

2EachHisOwn.

But personally I have never smoked and I think it is a super nasty habit

I was in a sports bar recently and when I got home at 3PM I had to change clothes it was so bad

I just don`t get the thinking.

if a whole city is smoke free ,why get upset with a few dozen smokers bar.

it`s like this guy I used to work with,he hated the gays in san francisco.
but he doesn`t live there or was born there
but still he feels his rights are violated
