can`t feel too bad about it, since the cause is a dramatic decrease of junkmail.

also I never did think it`s a good idea for mail to come in saturday.

The only reason why the USPS does not make money is that it is required by Congress to deliver tons of junk mail and other unsolicited stuff like catalogs at far below cost.

If your business is losing money doing X, doing more X will simply lose more money.

Uh?

You lost me with that.

We are offering new services after asking our clients what services they would like us to additionally offer.

You really have two options in this economy....shrink or figure out new ways to replace lost revenue.

Actually, the USPS solicits those because it makes more money on those than on regular mail. But since you claim that it's mandated by Congress to provide that service at below cost, I'm sure you can provide the reference to the appropriate law in the US Code or regulation in the Code of Federal Regulations.

the lost in revenue would probly the flat rate of the postage.

44cents for a letter to anyplace in the U.S.

but note that the link mention they are doing this because junk mail is going down.

Which shows that junk mail is subsidizing regular mail, not the other way around.

Of course, the legislation does not mention this in such words, but a piece of junk mail weighs as much or more than a 44 cent letter and often weighs more or takes up more space. I suggest YOU provide proof that the USPS makes more per item on junk mail and catalogs than than it does on a 44 cent letter.
