I think I would get upset by nine men praying out loud and in unison on an airplane in English.

It is worrisome being on a plane when fellow passengers begin communication with celestial beings said to receive them when they die. This would definitely worry me

In fairness I think that quite a number of people in the United States either never had any respect for Islam or did not care one way or the other. To lose respect implies that one had respect in the first place, which I doubt was the case for quite a number of folks.

I also think that the latter clause is unfair. A co-worker of mine is Pakistani and attends a nearby mosque. He and the local religious leaders are well aware of the public's attitude towards Islam. They have read some very nasty letters, some from local ministers, and even invited them to attend their religious services (as observers of course) yet very few of them have done so. Many of them go so far as to tell their congregations what "is going on at that mosque" without actually knowing what is taking place. Why?

People fear what they do not understand and what they are unwilling to learn. I think many people would learn a great deal if they attend a mosque on a Friday (perhaps instead of joining in the shopping frenzy). Most Moslems are very friendly and open and no, you do not become a Muslim by attending! You simply observe from the back and perhaps take a tour afterwards. Listen and learn, you might be surprised.

That's outrageous.  I hope they sue the ass off U.S. Airlines and each of its staff members who participated in this Nazi-like violation of their basic human rights.  Six bearded men.  Like the beard is the obvious give-away sign of a suicidal terrorist.  You have no idea, apparently, how infantile and pathetic this kind of reasoning is.  THAT'S what respect for human dignity and individual rights has come to?  A passenger passes a fucking note to a stewardess and that's all it takes for these guys' rights to be violated?

I went to the Miami Book Fair this past weekend. As usual, there were people hawking every religion you have ever heard of and then some: Urantia, Spiritism, you name it. There were a group of obviously Middle Eastern types peddling Korans and the like, and it was  uncomfortable to see how people were shunning them, looking the other way, treating them the way I imagine lepers would be treated. I felt sorry for them, really.

But this does not change the fact that a huge portion of the Koran can only be described as gibberish, and some of the beliefs, such as Mohammad's one night horseback round trip from Mecca to Jerusalem is pure nonsense. I don't think that believing in this makes anyone dangerous, but it does indicate a certain lack of ability for critical thought, as do many oif the beliefs of Christian fundies and Jewish Hassids.
 
I never really had too much respect for Islam, and I have pretty much lost what respect I ever had for Christianity or Judaism as being believable or logical. Taoism, Confucious, and much of Buddhism make a whole lot more sense, and none of them claims to be the One True Religion.

I have believe since I was old enough to put two and two together that all religions teach racism in one form or another. It is my belief, racism, as a doctrine, is not what people think of, as racism. Racism, I believe, is the idea of one World with one set of rules. It appears to me there is a "Grand Plan" the people of the World Will continue to go through a process of elimination. History is a record of what use to be, but is no more. Can democracy, socialism or communism survive the test? I don't think so. However, our fate will be a matter of record, a thousand years from now.

When four aircraft were boarded by five Arabs each , on 9-11, we were perfectly tolerant of it.

Six imams removed from a US Airways flight from Minneapolis to Phoenix are calling on Muslims to boycott the airline. If only we could get Muslims to boycott all airlines, we could dispense with airport security altogether.

The idea that a Muslim boycott against US Airways would hurt the airline proves that Arabs are utterly tone-deaf. This is roughly the equivalent of Cindy Sheehan taking a vow of silence. How can we hope to deal with people with no sense of irony? The next thing you know, New York City cab drivers will be threatening to bathe.
