Giuliani files federal exploratory committee

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani filed papers to form a federal exploratory committee this week, the latest step towards a possible bid for the Republican presidential nomination.

"It is a mere formality for all potential candidates looking at a possible run," a senior Giuliani advisor tells CNN. "It is akin to crossing the "T" in exploratory."

Earlier this month, Giuliani formed a presidential exploratory committee with the New York Department of State. The latest filing, with the Federal Election Commission, occurred on November 20. John H. Gross, a partner in the law firm Proskauer Rose, is listed as the committee's treasurer.

By forming an exploratory committee, Giuliani can raise money to pay for travel and polling as he considers a White House run. Arizona Sen. John McCain is the only other Republican to form a presidential exploratory committee. On the Democratic side, Iowa Gov. Tom Vilsack has already filed papers to run for president.

Giulani will not be the nominee.
(a) His name ends in a vowel. The GOP is not about to run any Eye-talian for president.
(b) He tends to be independent. The GOP likes sockpuppets.
(c) He is pro-choice.
(d) He doesn't have enough hair. Men with little hair cannot win, except in exceptional cases, like Eisenhower, who was bald, BUT won a war.
(e) He is a New Yorker ands worse, a New York City resident. The GOP hates NYC.
(f) Jebbie is lurking in the wings.

Guiliani has as good a chance as any. Your prejudices aside.

What prejudices? I think he is the best person the GOP could run for president.

The things that make him the best possible candidate pretty much guarantee than he will not get it.

Wait and see. History will absolve me.

Observe how I was dead on right about Katherine Silly Harris going down in smoke and flames.

I think the odds are about 80-20 against Juniorbush will have to leave the WH in women's clothes, just like Jeff Davis did.

If you see Cheney in a pinafore, remember that you heard it first right here.

And if there are any pics of Reagan, Bush or W in drag, I've never seen or heard of them.

But everybody's seen this. http://stevecopy.blogharbor.com/giuliani-drag.jpg

And I just don't see Dobson allowing the GOP to nominate Giuliani.

Since when does Dobson control the GOP?

Is that why he was able to stop the FDA from approving that HPV vaccine?
