supermarket cooked crab
« on: February 27, 2008, 03:12:48 PM »
in most supermarkets I see these precooked crabs at the seafood counters
I`m wondering how does one eat those
do you just crack them and eat them or do you steam or boil  them ?
I think if they display instruction on what to do with them.they would sell more crabs
none of my friends has eaten them also.

Couldn't you just ask?

Yes.

That's fine, but I would steam it in the nuke.

Nothing wrong with eating it cold, either.

how do you nuke it?

is it just a simple nuke or you put a damp paper towel on it?

also do people normally eat the green stuff inside the main shell?

Yeah, you need something wet in there to produce the steam. I take a big tupperware-type container, put wet paper towel in the bottom with whatever I'm steaming on top of the towel, then put the lid on leaving one corner popped open. Nuke it for a few minutes - enough to get the steam going.

Depends. It's edible, but it's also the part of the body where any toxins the crab has encountered will accumulate, so it's your choice.

I meant, couldn't you ask somebody in the market where you buy it?
