I know that voting has routinely had long lines & long waits, thus the ever frequent reference to decreased voter turn-out.  Per your parameters, I must assume that since Demoncrats have been in control of the legislature for such a long time, they must be trying to suppress my vote.  Right?

  It has long been a plank of the Democratic platform to encourage greater turnout , not of better prepared voters , but of less prepared voters.

     This entirely reverses the Democrats earlier "Jim Crow" policy of suppressing minority votes with impossible tests and silly requirements.

While I can agree that many a political ad is left to really brief sound bytes, to portray the maximum amount of emotionally laden info to the most rudimentary of the electorate, the issue here has been 2 fold, the horrid, almost universally condemned ad by Davis, that you seem to be trying to defend, and the tangential lack of any proof of some illicit suppressing the vote in Florida, when lines are long all over the country, including this, one of the bluest states in the country

Aaagh ,...  don't try to understand Florida, if you don't have to live there it is not worth the mental energy.

The antipathy for both candidates reflects, in part, the deepening malaise among voters around the country. But it is also a reaction to a bitter campaign awash in negative advertisements, outside groups with political agendas and seemingly bottomless reservoirs of cash.

Low turnout is planned. It means easier manipulation of who votes. And both campaigns know who THEIR voters are.

Scott is aware that historically, in mid term elections, more republicans vote than democrats. Don’t ask me why, but it’s fact. He is counting on history to repeat itself.

Also, Scott knows that in a low turnout election money plays an even more important role. That is why the governor spent more than $75 million of his own money to assure his razor-thin win in 2010, and he has said he is willing to do it again. An endless supply of money is what the Crist campaign fears most when it comes to Scott.

From the start I’ve also considered the chance of a Crist victory based on turnout. And it looks like it’s how his camp has organized his road to a possible victory. It’s just that it’s not exactly how I envisioned it. Crist is depending on a low turnout vote. The trick is to bring out more of his voters than Scott’s – in spite of Gov. Scott’s unending cash flow.

Crist, a former republican, seems to have taken a page out of the Karl Rove playbook. Remember Rove? He who made wedge issues in campaigns a pathway to victory…

It is not by coincidence that Amendment 2 is on the ballot in November. The amendment...
