Looks to me like BT's right on this one.  The Democrats finally have the mandate and the means to shut down the war - - but not the balls.

OTOH, domer personifies the reductio ad absurdum of the Democratic position - - the political equivalent of the Hail Mary pass, with the added humiliation of not having the guts to run the ball straight down an open field to the goal-posts.

<<The better way -- better than unilateral Congressional action -- is to persuade Bush to see all sides, and then to develop a policy he can LEAD the nation to follow, authentically -- not another instance of governing from the margins.>>

Wouldn't it be easier and just as effective to simply pray for a miracle?

I'm for cutting off funds and plenty of investigations.  Lord knows we have enough to investigate.
Planned Parenthood is America’s most trusted provider of reproductive health care.

Consensus starts with the acknowledgement that truth is king. Further, objectively speaking, Bush mangled this whole issue horribly. Aside from its value as truth and the principles it inculcates to guide our behavior, it is clear beyond cavil that a significant part of the electorate cannot forgive Bush for his incompetence, and won't budge from that intransigence, which thwarts all efforts to unite, until, artfully and deftly, he acknowledges his screw-up, cleans the slate, and, with new nodes of influence, proceeds to salvage the fucking situation.

The Saddam idea is an example of thinking outside the box. While a remote antidote, its rational, conceivable way of easing tensions, which the Shi'ite statesmen among the Iraqis should consider.

"it is clear beyond cavil that a significant part of the electorate cannot forgive Bush for his incompetence, and won't budge from that intransigence, which thwarts all efforts to unite,..."

That is really putting it nicely .

But Democrats have used this division to regain some of the power that they lost  a decade and a half ago, they hae asked for this power and the responsibility that comes with it.

Are you saying now that the Democrats still need the President to Kowtow before thay will get with any program? With Controll of the Legislature they can set the program.

Too bad they don't have a program.

The lack of analysis by most participating in this thread is breath taking.
