Being as they are toothless because the Republicans have the Senate deadlocked, and are sure to lose some more seats, soon they may be better able to bite.

But we've been told that the filibuster is the only power that the minority party has!

As Ami has accurately referenced, The Dems were speaking to the rooftops as to the importance of the filibuster to the minority party.  Now, putting that aside, let's look.....AMT left alone, no strings attached to any funding bill for the war, a whole horde of days taken off despite the pledge of continuous work by Pelosi, and, oh yea, Earmarks & Porkspending galore, with little to no accountability.  But hey, there was a minimum wage increase.........time to celebrate the massive accomplishments by the "people have spoken" new majority party      ;D

The Democrats are having trouble doing the right things, but the Republicans screwed up the country doing precisely the WRONG things.

The solution to the AMT would be to index it to the cost of living, of course, but the Republicans want to abolish it forever, with no revenues to replace it with.

The only thing anyone could do was to postpone it, which was what they eventually did.

They should refuse to spend one more dime on Iraq. That is the main thing to fault them with.

Friends of mine who are liberal Democrats are very upset with Pelosi & Co. They say she is indeed toothless and has led them down a primrose path. Could the Democratic leadership have produced real results or is it indeed not their fault, e.g. they have been successfully stymied at every turn by Republicans?
