I have had a few occasions in which I got an error message and it erased everything I had written.

No problems recently.

Spellcheck has not worked for months , but I hardy miss it anymore.

You can use spellcheck on a word by word basis, but it no longer allows the spell checking of an entire post. It flags misspelled words with a wiggly red line. If you right click on the word, it will provide the correct spelling.
