Most of the country consists of places where only the police and security have guns, so this is unsurprising.

I can't recall many places where they announce that everyone can bring their guns. I can only think of gun shows and a few menacing signs outside pawnshops (forget about the dog: Owner is ARMED).

While most of the country consists of places where massacres occur where no guns are allowed, so this is unsurprising as well.  Not to mention that those places in this country with more permissive gun carry laws, have less violent crime than those places with far stricter gun laws.  This too is unsurprising

Gun nuts and vigilantes are not going to lower the crime rate.

If a huge number of firearms are made illeagal the crime rate will certainly rise.
