So your waitress might be smarter than your doctor?

Why not?

Is this the root ,of the attitude of contempt, that the white collar displays to the blue?

and yet not so smart that she has taken a position whre she has to work HARD for little renumeration...

Gee golly, aren't WE high and mighty. Defending the blue collar, Plane? They don't need defending. We all have roles to play, white collar, pink collar and blue collar. Everyone is called to be one and/or the other. Society needs all these "types" to be effective.

All this is really nice DISCUSSION, but ask many parents whether they would like their capable children to have a white collar job or a blue collar one and see what the response is.

So true and both need to be done. And the advantage to being a plumber is that you do not need a college degree. But then again, how many of us really would want to be one?

I have been a Plumber , a Welder and an Electrician.

I have seen Electrical engineers (recently) complicate a Jumper cable till it was difficult to use.

My very well educated Father was ready to send me to colledge , I think he was dissapointed a bit but was not insistant on it .

I have done some Colledge level studying I may eventually get a degree .

It seems as if half of my Children have chosen colledge and half have not.
