a Super Bowl of a commercial
« on: January 26, 2010, 08:05:28 PM »
Let's see if CBS can stand the radical left heat.  My guess is that they'll cave

Alexandria, VA ? Media Research Center President Brent Bozell called on the CBS Television Network to stay the course in planning to air a life-affirming Super Bowl commercial featuring Heisman Trophy winner Tim Tebow and his mother, who was pressured to abort him in her pregnancy, after a bout of opposition has arisen among left-wing activist groups:

?Radical leftist groups like the National Organization for Women have the gall to claim that this life-affirming ad is ?extraordinarily offensive and demeaning.?  I wonder, what is so offensive about celebrating the decision of a mother to have her baby? Apparently this is too much for these radicals to handle, so they are unabashedly pressuring CBS to censor the message. They are disgraceful.

?CBS has the opportunity to make this a game-changer for network television. It has been documented time and again that the broadcast networks are left-wing in their news, editorial and entertainment decisions.  Here is an opportunity for CBS to show balance and fairness ? and simple decency. It also presents an opportunity to stand against liberal political censorship.  They should take it and run this positive, uplifting ad.

?If CBS caves to the leftist pressure, it?s over for this network?s credibility. On the other hand, CBS can make a very positive statement to all of America by holding its ground.?

Who the hell would get "offended"??

Is Bozell damning NOW for politicizing the ad?

Isn't he doing the same thing?

I don't think so.  If anything, he's defending it.  Kinda ironic given the point of the ad itself

Not sure what NOW's beef is either. Tebow's mom made a choice. And isn't that what it is all about?

You would think.  I believe NOW's problem is the audience such a commercial will garner.  So instead of providing some advertisement of theirs, singing the virtues of a Tebow never seeing the light of day nor air to breathe, they'd rather the other side of the coin not be heard

Just a guess

CBS announced today that they will allow it to be shown and any other "theme" ads that are responsibly produced.

Planned Parenthood should perhaps quit whining and cough up the BUCKS to run a counter pro-choice ad.

Naw, they can talk about how their lives are better once they got an abortion years ago and how they had more money to go to college and now are well off.

so let me get this straight....during Super Bowls we can have all kinds of sexy commercials...commercials with girls in underwear....we can have drug addicts performing the half time shows....we can have Janet Jackson showing her tits...commercials selling booze...commercials selling unhealthy foods...commercials selling gas guzzling SUV's...BUT OH MY GOD HEAVEN FORBID...it just crosses the line of decency to have a commercial showing a Mother that is proud she made "the choice" to keep and not abort her son who went on to be one of the best football players in college football history.   ::)

The logical counter to that commercial would be John Wayne Gacey's mother saying that she ignored people urging her to abort her son Gacy, wouldn't it?

Best e-mail NOW, Xo.  They should run with that.  Make sure they explain just how close Tebow was to becoming a serial killer

No it would not be logical, because the overwhelming majority of parents...like Tim Tebow's parents.....
are glad they did not abort their children.....the world's greatest scholars, scientist, inventors, doctors,
charity leaders overwhelmingly out number the John Wayne Gacy's....but that was a nice try.
