We keep hearing, both here in the saloon, and in liberal punditry, that the AZ law, SB1070, is some racist piece of legislation.
Question, HOW SO??
A law, that expressly makes clear that folks can NOT be pulled over or detained merely by the color of their skin or presumed ethnicity, is somehow racist because.............?
Selective enforcement is hogwash, because it won't pass the smell test. This law would be watched and scrutinzed with a microscope, that likely the polar opposite would occur...that of folks absoloutely llegitimately pulled over, but immediately claim racial profiling because they happen to be of a different color or ethnicty, with law enforcement not even bothering to have looked into their immigration status, in the 1st place.
And even greater hogwash, largely mirroring AMBE, is the notion that Arizonians are pushing their legislature for a "whiter AZ" Good god, again, based on WHAT?? What on earth, preceding this law makes any indication of some desire for a KKK-like vision of AZ?
As Ami already demonstrated, this law merely mirrors existing Federal law, so is the claim now that current Federal law is racist??
So, someone with some ounce of integrity or credibility, please demonstrate how a law that makes racism and racial profiling expressly illegal, is by in large racist

No one?? So, how can the claim keep being made, if it can't be supported??
A BOGUS accusation you say?? naaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

I am perfectly happy to let AZ enforce their law however they wish. Once they have a hundred thousand or so illegals all imprisoned in tents or whatever, and are feeding them every day, and they cannot deport them, then they will have to turn to the taxpayers to pay for the additional cost. Of course, they will also face all manner of lawsuits and such.
I have a feeling that this thing was not thought through very well. The AZ legislature is not a branch of Mensa, shall we say.

Now, how did that answer the question? Let's try again
How is SB 1070 racist??
How is a bill, that specifically makes using race and racial profiling illegal, racist??

The law (which you apparently haven't read, either) requires the AZ authorities to hand over illegal immigrants to the immigration service of the federal government. They would not be a problem for the state, rather they would become the problem of the federal government.

Given the lack of responses here in the saloon, and to those that have been provided in the MSM, largely by the left, it would appear that the common denominator is indeed a lack of having read SB 1070, and instead get their info from the liberal & pro anti-immigrant talking heads.
But I guess the counter arguement would be something along the lines of an apparent undo burden to Federal authorities, by having to enforce existing immigration law
What's a state to do?

Oh, so how truely ironic & accurate this toon is 8)
