Yes that does look good but it has no mention of cost and manufactor. These factors are the key for anything to be made. It's why solar companies have a hard time making it.

Too recent, these are laboratory toys right now, if they can be made to work reliably they might get sold as a product in a few years.

Crossing fingers

If its too costly lets who some innovator tries to push it forward.

I'm a collector of quality portable radios and awhile ago the nano had the best fm radio I've heard .it out perform alll my radios by a good margin. Then it dawn upon me steve jobs. I can easily imagine him yelling how crappy the radios are and demanding for something better and not caring about the cost. I also notice nobody knew how good the radio is so it made me think people are not deserving of better technology also.

I'm just saying that maybe the delay in innovation is maybe because people msy not care enough to demand it be done.

Would you like an alternative power source for your Radio?

Actually I'm pretty confidant that if I really try i can make my own power source for my radios. Another project to add on my list. I used to use spent polaroid film to power my radios at one time.

My mother used a Polaroid for a newspaper job she had. The film packs had a built in battery, and it used very of the available energy, especially if the flash was not used.
I used to fiddle with those batteries, but I never managed to do more than make them spark.
What is the voltage of a Polaroid film pack? Can you power a radio with one, or how many did you need?

forgot . it`s been a long while. i pretty just simply used a radio that can used that voltage. easy enough to figure the voltage with a multimeter then put in a series if you want to use a much higher amount . i learned early on with higher volts you can go 1 or 2 volts down so no worry about exact matching and when it drains I just keep adding to the series and play with the combination.

heres a trick you may use if you got a radio that uses 4 battery but you only got 3 find something to take the place of the 4th wrap it in foil and insert it . the remaining 3 if fully charged should still power the radio but at a much shorter time.

one time i used a paperclips

6Volts.

That is more than I would have guessed.

I haven't seen one of those in quite a while.

Carbon and alkaline batteries always seem to have a multiple of 1.5.  1.5 volts, 6 volts, 9 volts and so on. If yoy take apart a 9 V battery, you see 6 batteries stacked inside.

Yes , there is a chemical reason for this.
A single cell dry cell , is 1.5 V even if the cell is tiny or giant.

Lead Acid cells are 2 volts each.
The voltage is characteristic of the battery type, that is the chemicals that are involved.

A battery is a set of cells , if they are in series the voltage will be a multiple of the basic cell voltage times the number of cells.

6 volts . Yes Now I Remember It Powered My midsize. Stuff. Shame I didn't know enough to attach a adapter plug instead of using alligator clips. I still had fun messing with it
