I suppose you will tell me that we have NEVER had capitalism, not in 1819, 1837, 1857, 1893, 1901 or 1907. There were panics and crises in each of those years.

It is the nature of capitalism to suffer from bubbles and busts.

It is the nature of capitalism to suffer from bubbles and busts.

It is the nature of non-capitalism to suffer from bust after bust after bust after bust.

It is the nature of non-capitalism to suffer from bust after bust after bust after bust.

Such as when? and where?

You make no sense.

What is "non-capitalism"? There are no 'non-capitalist' parties or organizations.

Capitalism can work, when it is properly regulated. But it tends to produce an oligarchy, and that oligarchy tends to attempt to remove essential regulations, and when they are removed, bubbles and busts are caused.

Such as when? and where?
Such any place on earth that does not incorporate some form of capitalism in their society.
No-other economic system has ever even come close.
Capitalism may have some boom & bust, but other systems are mainly all BUST!
It's reality and I know you don't like it.

This guy explains it better than me....

What on Earth do you mean I don't like it? The law of supply and demand exists everywhere, and that is the basis for capitalism.
Capitalism is like gravity. It is neither to be liked nor disliked, it simply IS.

Like gravity, capitalism can be beneficial or lethal, depending on HOW it is used.

Without adequate regulation, it produces a boom and a bust on a regular basis. There is more than enough evidence for this in history. My position is that regulation was removed during recent times that allowed the current depression to occur. A very few mortgage traders got huge bonuses, and everyone else got screwed.

You right wingers WORSHIP capitalism, which makes about as much sense as users of pulleys and levers worshipping gravity, or aeronautical engineers worshipping aerodynamics.

And although I agree that Milton Friedman is better at explaining things than you, he does not address the issue at hand.

What on Earth do you mean I don't like it?

You leftists love to take little jabs at capitalism (as if there is something better)
Praising capitalism is like "fingerer nails on a chalkboard" for liberals.
We've all seen the bullshit talking points a million times.
"Oh my dear....capitalism is boom and bust"
The problem is for those being critical.....is that nothing works better.
NOTHING!
Rather "Boom & Bust" than "BUST" only!

IMPROPERLY REGULATED Capitalism sucks. We are suffering from this at this very minute.

The entire housing crisis was entirely unavoidable, and no, it was not caused by Barney Frank.

IMPROPERLY REGULATED Capitalism sucks.

"Sucks".....as compared to what?
What system besides free enterprise/capitalism
has had the same impact on standards of living
and life-changing innovation?
Is Capitalism perfect?
No...but it's a hell of lot closer than anything on earth.
Can you name anything with a track record that is better than capitalism?

We are suffering this very minute

"Suffereing" compared to what?
"Suffering" anywhere near people that live in non-capitalist countries?
Hardly....not even close.
"Suffering"....Ha!
"Suffering" because we're on umployment?
Go to Sudan...Go to North Korea....you'll see what "suffering" really is.
Ask them if they'd rather be at Walmart buying food with unemployment benefits.
"Unemployment Benefits"....whazzzzzz dat?
Ask them if they can sit in the A/C & watch cable tv...browse the internet waiting for gvt check?
"Suffering"....are you freakin kiddin me!

It sucks as compared to properly regulated capitalism, of course.

We are suffering from unemployment and a stall in growth because of regulations that were lifted on the banking industry.

Suffering, is of course, relative.

Sure, things could be worse, but you make it sound like it is a binary choice between Somalia and the present state of the US. And that is not true.
