Santorum Wins Alabama Primary, According to Exit Polls
Rick Santorum won the Alabama primary on Tuesday but remained locked in a tight race with Mitt Romney and Newt Gingrich in Mississippi, according to preliminary exit polls.
The Republican race moves forward to Missouri on Saturday and Illinois next week as Mr. Santorum and Mr. Romney remain locked in a bitter fight for the right to lead their party’s bid to take back the White House from President Obama.
Mr. Santorum’s victory in Alabama was driven by support among voters who said they were “very conservative” and from evangelical Christians, who made up nearly 8 in 10 voters, according to exit poll returns.

Newt probably lost a lot of votes by abandoning Protestantism to become a Roman Catholic.
Traditionally, the Klan opposed Blacks, Jews AND Catholics.
But Santorum is also an avid Catholic. At least not a turncoat, I guess, is what they were thinking.
-
Santorum may be Catholic but he's one of them and they can smell it. Newts a phoney and they can smell that to.

I tend to agree with you.
The Newtster is really an obvious phony, while Santorum is a true believer nutcase.

If the whole Klan voted against or for him the diffrence wouldn't carry a county.
You are quaintly behind the times.
Still I think you have hit one thing right , BsB too.
Santorum does seem more genuine .

Sirs: "I really don't like Daylight Savings. I don't enjoy having to wake up an hour earlier. There's likely many others that feel the same"
BsB: "See, there you have it... Conservatives are anti-sun, and want to ban the sun from coming up"

No MO is polls swinging your way. Historic event is quite different. It's like voting for Romney even though he doesn't match your definition of conservative because he would be the first Mormon president.

Sometimes MO is just MO for its own sake. A self fulfilling prophecy if you will. Often though, as is the case here I think, there is a reason for a candidate to have the momentum going for them. Santorum has the momentum over Newt with the southern base of the GOP because he's a more authentic conservative when it comes to the cultural issues.

I agree entirely with what you say here.
