Racial Double Standards
Back in 2009, U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder said we were "a nation of cowards" on matters of race. Permit me to be brave and run a few assertions by you just to see whether we're on the same page. There should be two standards for civilized conduct: one for whites, which is higher, and another for blacks, which is lower. In other words, in the name of justice and fair play, blacks should not be held accountable to the same standards that whites are and should not be criticized for conduct that we'd deem disgusting and racist if said or done by whites.
You say, "Williams, what in the world are you talking about?" Mitt Romney hasn't revealed all of his fall campaign strategy yet, but what if he launched a "White Americans for Romney" movement in an effort to get out the white vote? If the Romney campaign did that, there'd be a media-led outcry across the land, with charges ranging from racial insensitivity to outright racism. When President Barack Obama announced his 2012 launch of "African Americans for Obama", the silence was deafening. Should the same standards be applied to Obama as would be applied to Romney?
The answer turns out to be no, because Obama is not held to the same standards as Romney.
Liberals won't actually come out and say that criticism of Obama is in and of itself racist, but they come pretty close.
Former President Jimmy Carter said that criticism of Obama shows that there is an "inherent feeling" in America that a black man should not be president.
Chris Matthews, host of MSNBC's "Hardball," said that critics of Obama are crackers.
Morgan Freeman said that the campaign to see that Obama serves one term is a "racist thing."
Former Obama czar Van Jones said that Romney's campaign sign "Obama Isn't Working" implies Obama is a "lazy, incompetent affirmative action baby."
Racial double standards also apply to how crime is reported. I'm betting that if mobs of white youths were going about severely beating and robbing blacks at random and preying on black businesses, it would be major news. News anchors might open, "Tonight we report on the most recent wave of racist whites organizing unprovoked attacks on innocent black people and their businesses." If white thugs were actually doing that, politicians would be demanding answers. Such random attacks do happen, but it's blacks preying on whites.
On St. Patrick's Day in Baltimore, a 19-year-old white man was viciously attacked by a mob of black thugs. He broke loose, but a second mob of black thugs attacked him, taking all of his belongings. Baltimore County Delegate Pat McDonough demanded the governor send in the Maryland State Police to control "roving mobs of black youths" at Baltimore's Inner Harbor. Maryland Gov. Martin O'Malley and other activists demanded that McDonough apologize for talking about "black youth mobs."
Similar episodes of unprovoked violence by black thugs against white people chosen at random on beaches, in shopping malls and at other public places have occurred in Philadelphia, New York, Denver, Chicago, Cleveland, Washington, Los Angeles and other cities. Most of the time, the race of the attackers, euphemistically called flash mobs, is not reported, even though media leftists and their allies are experts in reporting racial disparities in prison sentencing and the alleged injustice of the criminal justice system.
Racial double standards are not restricted to the political arena and crime reporting; we see it on college campuses and in the workplace. Black people ought to be offended by the idea that we are held accountable to lower standards of conduct and achievement.
White people ought to be ashamed for permitting and fostering racial double standards that have effects that are in some ways worse than the cruel racism of yesteryear

Black people are not 100% failures , nor any other discription , including "black".
If we demarked ourselves along other lines we would see the same sorts of differences, short people get promoted less than tall ones for example.
When this is everyones fault it is as good as no ones fault, I wish that these demarcations would stop being recognised in law.

The establishment of this country makes it nearly impossible for a supermarket that is unaffiliated with a chain to exist. All the chains are White-owned, and Black people do not have the funds and/or the determination to organize a supermarket chain.
For every dollar in assets that a White family has, a Black family has one dime. The economic system is discriminatory.
\It is not intentionally racist. It does not have to be. But the results are the same as if it were. Probably if there were a concentrated effort by the Klan to prevent Black-owned supermarkets, there would be more of them.
You do not understand how racism is a built-in feature of the US economy and culture. Calling what I say "racist" solves nothing. It just reveals your ignorance.

There are all kinds of grocery stores, food markets, resturants, ect.. that are owned by minorities
that have come to this country in the last few decades and many didn't even speak the the English language. Instead of making excuses....they worked their asses off!
There is incredible opportunity in this country for minorities like almost no place on earth. People from all over the world risk everything to come here because the opportunity exists so much better here than most places ever in human history. Minorities of different colors, different creeds, different languages travel thousands and thousands of miles at the chance to live a life of opportunity that the United States offers minorities.
I know you HATE to hear it...but the United States is where most people are coming because the United States offers some of the best opportunities for minorities....and the reason that is....is because of an economy beased on Free Market Capitalism/Business Friendly.
Instead of sitting around complaining, bitching, and moaning about how terrible and unfair everything is....many of these minorities got to work at improving their lives and the lives of their families. They didnt listen to the welfare pimps and racists like you...instead they "gotter done". I see what are most likely illegals every single day....pouring concrete....laying bricks....cleaning hotel rooms....roofing in 100 degree weather......instead of sitting at home "blaming whitey" because people of your ilk tell them that's their lot in life......to whine and wait for "whitey" to give them something. Hell the Mexicans aren't waiting....they are pouring concrete in the sun!

There is no country on this planet where Blacks ended slavery by themselves. In Haiti, Martinique and Guadeloup[e, slavery was abolished by the Revolution. Then there was an attempt to reimpose it in Haiti, as a part of the campaign to retain Haiti as a colony.
The NAACP could never have ended segregation without the support of White people who opposed it.

It is largely impossible for any oppressed group to liberate itself without support from outside the oppressed group. This is not something peculiar to Blacks or any race.
South Africa was forced to abandon apartheid because of support by Whites in SA as well as international sanctions.

I came to this country in my mid-teens and had a black friend who pretty much was smarter stronger and notably more talented then me. then we parted ways when i went to college. saw him last year through facebook. He literally has body parts missing . he started life in the projects and hasn`t really deviated far from that life now. this is obviously too small a sample to be fact but it should be a consideration that the social conditioning is one of the factors why so many don`t do well.
Street smarts can only help people survive,but it`ll never get people to apply at the local community college the accepts everybody over the age of 18.

this is what I`m getting at, it`s the factors how that decision was made, my friend did not have parents who would kick my ass if i got a girl pregnant or decide not to go to college . Have relatives set up jobs for me to pay for college.
the type of parent or people we have growing up greatly effects our decision. it`s not totally free will
a mcdonalds job can totally cover a community college expense. but notice so many kids don`t go any way. it`s not just african americans. a good percent of the military doesn`t take advantage of the free education at thier disposal.

I don't think that a job at McDonald's would pay rent for a single person as well as expenses at a community college here in Miami. Perhaps if one shared an apartment with three or four others, it could be possible. Stuff like car insurance would have to be optional for most people.
I agree that determination is important. The girl who plans to go to Harvard got the idea of going there from someone, maybe even from the parents who abandoned her.
My experience is that a majority of beginning freshmen have no idea of any specific goals, other than "graduate and make lots of money", which is far too vague. There is a lack of intellectual curiosity as well.
Most people who think they have free will do not seem to be aware of how little free will they actually have, and how to use what they do have for their own benefit.

It would cost him nothing to leave us unenlightened as to his thoughts.
"Socialist" would be an accurate description of a major part of our citizenry, maybe even our commander in cheif, so it isn't a small or unimjportant part of the population .
My couriosity about what XO thinks on this subject takes into account that he is well educated and well traveled and incredibly still has come to diffrent conclusions than I have reguards to the way the world works.
My couriosity is intense to learn the way of thought that I can hardly think myself, and in return for XO being generous with his thoughts I can bear to maintain a minimum politeness.

I have been to those "sensitivity " training seminars, all civil servants do this.
Truely some of the instructors are clueless ,...., but that doesn't make it a bad idea.
Even though only a few really benefit, lots of us benefit because those few improve.

The subject of whats offensive is a very complex subject. Ex. Alot of african- american simply cannot understand calling themselve the n- word undermine thier chances of people not calling them that.
Most people prefer the subject tolerates the insult as a harmless jest, but don't understand such tolerance tend to always ends with great disrespect to said subject.
Ever notice nobody ever greatly respect a person who takes alot of ribbing. They tend to be the but of more jokes later on.

Black people have rather a lot of contradictory views on things. Perhaps a majority of them prefer to live in mostly White neighborhoods and do not seem to think things through too logically. The use of the "n=word" is a prime example of this. It is used in more or less the same way that White Southerners sometimes call each other slurs like Sumbitch and bastard. This is also demeaning, but not a racial slur.
Once I mentioned that I sometimes bought winter clothes at thrift shops, and one of my students said "how can you do that?" You don't know who wore it before you!" So I had to ask her if she had ever eaten in a restaurant with the restaurant silverware, or slept in a hotel on sheets that may have been used by someone else. I have seen similar reactions from silly White women, of course.

I see no reason to buy used underwear of socks, as these are not expensive when new.
But there really is no danger if you washed them, perhaps with a small bit of bleach.
There is nothing you could catch from used shoes if they had not been worn for several weeks.

Both Goodwill and the Salvation Army have refurbished their stores, making them much more pleasant and less funky. Prices are higher as well.
I assume they are doing this on a national basis. I found the greatest assortment of Aloha shirts in a Goodwill in Honolulu. MUCH GREATER variety than anywhere I have ever seen.

I always wear socks, even with sandals. And there is NO WAY I would shop for shoes at Macy's or Nordstrom's, since the same items can be purchased for half or less away from the malls or online.
This is the first time I have ever heard of "loaner socks".
