I can do a few of those. Well, I used to be able to. Since I've quit smoking I haven't had much practice.
(I'm left handed by the way)

My zippo lighter is unreliable and will only sometimes work.
I have replaced my wick and keep it full, yet it still lights less than 10% of the time I spark it.
anyone know of some tips to make it more reliable?

First, use only Zippo or Ronson fuel... other fuels can leave carbon or waxy residues. They also may not ignite reliably.
SECOND, take a Q-Tip soaked in fuel and wipe clean all the sooty deposits in the chimney and around the flint & flint wheel (Best done with the wick OUT). These deposits can prevent the spark from reaching the wick.
AND of course, you can always make use of Zippo's repair services.
GOOD LUCK

I would have to say it's time for a new one. Mine always sparked and i had it for nine years. Really ... nine years.

I bought five 'brand new' Zippo lighters, lessee, over 15 years ago at a little country drugstore that was going out of business. They were all they had left, still on a cardboard display card, and no one could remember how long they had been there - but they had the original price sticker on them and were only $4.95 each. None of them worked, at first, until I removed the old flints, which had all been in there so long they just crumbled. Put new flints in, they all worked great. Gave four of them away, and still have the last one - and it still works.
