The real legacy of the Iga Ninja can be found in Iga (Iga-shi in Japanese), in the prefecture of Mie (Mie Prefecture). There lies the Iga Ueno fortress and the Iga Ninja Museum, located inside the fortress. In 1935, the tenshu of the Castle was rebuilt with wood. Inside the museum there is a large collection of artifacts related to the history of the area and the Iga Ninja. Most of the other parts of the Castle are in ruins, although the high walls (honmaru) remain. The castle is nowadays a National Historic Site and is preserved in the Ueno Park. Parts of the film by Akira Kurosawa, Kagemusha, were filmed in this castle.
