The "botched joke" didn't hurt the Democrats on election night, but what about the military?

==============================================================
What about them?

I suppose you are going to say that they will resign their commissions, refuse to re-enlist, disobey orders or stop fighting so they can have a good cry over Kerry's dumbass joke.

I don't think it will have any significant effect on any soldiers at all. So what if they feel insulted. I assume that they know more about their education and abilities than Kerry does.

I tend to think that the ponly result of this silly incident will be that Kerry will think more carefully before he opens his trap.

He has pretty much ruined any chance of getting the nomination again. And that's okay by me.

Of course there is a bias against the Republicans lately. They have declared an unwinnable, stupid, expensive and useless war and have tried to win with no plan for victory whatever. Anyone who did not criticize the insanity of the war or the incompetence of its implementation would be a truly bad reporter of the news.

Is Jack Abramoff a force for good?

Is soliciting pages a positive news story? Was Abu Graib somehow a great accomplishment for Juniorbush?

Is waterboarding a positive thing?

Are the huge thefts of US taxpayers' money sent to Iraq somehow good news?

Please. The media has reported the dumbass things done by a dumbass administration because of the stupidity, incompetence, immorality and incompetence of the perps. The perps are Republicans. They have it coming, not because they are Republicans, but blundering, corrupt, perverted numbskulls.

What's your idea of an unbiased media? One where the mirror tells the witchy stepmother that she is the fairest of them all even though it knows Snow White is the One True Babe?

There may be a few similiarities between the US and ancient Rome, but there are vastly more differences.

I am saying that the differences outnumber the similarities to such a degree that it is absurd to say that the US must become an empire because the Romans became an empire.

Obviously we can learn some things from history, but history does not repeat itself like the tracks on a CD, but like the images on a kaleideoscope, with some elements repeated and others not.

If you would like to discuss why the US should become an empire based on Roman history, go right ahead. But the US is very different from Rome, and Al Qaeda is vastly different from Al Qaeda or Iraq or any other Arab state with regard to the economy or anything else to such a degree that I suggest that comparisons are absurd.

"Investing in retailing Chinese products also does not serve to make the economy grow."

What?

Should I sell my retail stocks because they are not really part of the US economy?

Do yuou just hate furreners or what?
===============================================================
I did not say that retail was not part of the US economy. I said that investing in Wal*Mart or some other retail purveyor of Chinese or other imported goods will not cause the economy of the US to grow.

If Wal*Mart were selling US-made products, then US workers would get paid for making these goods and if more of such goods were sold, the US company would nuild a bigger factory and more US jobs would be created. There is a multiplier effect at work here.

If, on the other hand, the goods sold are made in China, the multiplier benefits the CHINESE economy and not the US economy.

I am not against foreigners. I am merely stating that for the supposedly miracle-working US tax cuts to benefit the US economy, it is far better if the money spent goes to US workers.

If the government spends the money, it also has a multipler efect in the US. If the US government uses the money to pay the salary of someone to repair, test or schlep weapons about the Warner-Robbins AF Base, then you will spend your money mostly in the US and the US economy will benefit more than after the tax cut, when you are fired in a cost-cutting move and the tax savings go to say, Richard Mellon Scaife, who then invests in say, a factory in China.

For the US economy to benefit from the tax cut, the money must create more jobs than it loses as a result in cuts in government programs. You are more a part of the US economy that a guy who makes schlock in China to be sold in Wal*Mart. If the tax money is paid to you, then the US economy will benefit more than if it is sent to China to buy scholck. Even well-made schlock.

This is pretty complicated, and I doubt that RR or Rush or even O'Reilly actually has the statistics to prove that Juniortbush's tax cuts actually caused the current rise in the Stock Market.

And again, a rise in the stock market does not benefit even most Americans, though I have done pretty okay as a result.

The media is NOT pro-Democratic. This is a major Republican lie, repeated again and again along with the campaign to make the word "liberal" appear to be a bad thing. Fox is clearly ratwing, unfair and unbalanced.

The tax cuts would only have favored the economy if the money were invested in growing new businesses. If yopu buy GE stock, this only serves to raise the price of GE stock. GE doesn't get one single cent of it, because they sold that stock decades ago.

Investing in retailing Chinese products also does not serve to make the economy grow.

The GOP claims that raising the minimum wage is inflationary, but eliminating some dumbass tax on Paris Hilton's inheritance is good for the economy. This is clearly bullkshit, just like all the rest of the Limbaugh crap that you constantly spew.

It was not necessary for Rome to destroy Carthage.

Comparisons of the US with the Roman Empire are absurd. The Romans were larcenous brigands and plunderers who felt that the future could be deduced by looking at chcken guts. We no longer live in this age, and the comparison is worthless.

The Roman Republic was run by a limited number of men of the aristocracy in its most democratic form. Iran today is must more democratic than this, and Juniorbush wants to destroy its government.

I vote we stay a democratic republic, cease and desist from trying to impose our system on anyone else, and publicaly renounce imperial ambitions of all types.

Otherwise we will have a lot of people who will have to die for creepoids like Cheney and will get persecuted for mentioning how such people are disgusting, obnoxious arrogant creepoids.

There are two dangers with enlisting in the military.

You could get killed. about 3,000 so far in Iraq, plus more in Afghanistan
You could be seriously wounded, perhaps for life. At least 22,000 so far.
More dangerous than being a cropduster or a roofer.

Of course, if you are seriously wounded, you might end up getting paid for the rest of your (probably short) life, plus a snazzy prosthetic limb or two. Or three. Maybe four.

Will President Bush adapt to Democrat ideas and crash the economy?
================================================
THis is a more than a tad doltish. The Democrats do not want to crash the economy Observe that the Clinton years were the single largest period of growth in financial investments in US history.

Bush has borrowed bazillions to fight this useless war.
It is never financially sound to spend far beyond one's means. Juniorbush will require no help to ruin the economy .

I hear Dickless Cheney 's blind trust is investing in Euros .

What rationalizations?

Are you aware that you have yet to convince a single soul that Juniorbush and Cheney did not lie?

It does not require any sort of argument to know that people died as a result of this useless war. About 3,000 dead and over 20,000 wounded and counting.

I was merely stating my speculation that Junioorbush abd Cheney, who DESERVE major prison time, will not have to do any, because returning the nation to the pre-W state is far more important to everyone.

How was he suitable in the 2000 race and unsuitable now?
============================================
He was chosen in 2000 because he criticized Clinton (because Gore wanted to distance himself from the Monica scandal provoked by the asshole ratwingers) and because he was Jewish and the Gore campaign needed money. in addition to votes Jews have LOTS of money, and gave a ton of it to the campaign.

Clinton's "morality" is no longer an issue.

The Jewish card has been played and is now played out.

Note how neither of these had a damned thing to do with Leiberman's voting record.

As for the Republicans, I hardly think that their changing his name to "Loserman" will have made Leiberman love them.

It is beyond obvious that Juniorbush and Cheney both lied like orange shag throw rugs to get the US into this useless and unwinnable war. Both of them deserve impeachment, conviction, removal from office and major prison time for all the evil crap they did as well as  their gross incompetence.

But they will probably get away with their crimes, simply because what the country needs is an end to this foolish war and a return to decent democratic government.

Rangel was simply stating a well-known truth: New Yorkers pay out MORE in taxes on a percapita basis than people in many other states, among them, Mississippi. New Yorkers get back LESS in federal expenditures on a percapita basis than people in Mississippi.

Most of the people in this country do not wish to live in Mississippi, including many Mississippians.

This had absolutely NOTHING to do with Katrina.

Where are all the positive articles?

----Opinion Journal, WSJ, Forbes, Business Week.

One reason to favor the Democrats is the fact that the Democrats tend to favor business more.

Warmongering is not really beneficial to the ecomony.
