Osama Bin Laden chose Afganistan because he thought he could win there, he thinks he did the winning against the USSR and the US doesn't have the advantage of short supply lines.

Doesn't matter we have to root out the Al Queida no matter how remote they are , as long as their intent is to attack Americans we make ourselves safer by killing them.

I understand that a lot of Afgans do not even know what this fight is about , they do not know what happened on 9-11-2001 and don't know why we are angry, when they are told that we are trying to stamp out Islam they beleive it. As far as this we need Psy ops a lot more than we need bullets.  Note the Talib quoted at the head of this thread , does he even know that Americas gates were already attacked? Has he any idea that Osama Bin Laden invited us to this party?

Then why weren't we concentrating on doing just that instead of pulling troops out of Afghanistan and concentrating on some moron in Iraq who had done nothing and could do nothing against the American people? Instead we gave Al Quaida and the Taliban time to regroup and dig in, making the job that much harder, and more dangerous, now.

You are right.

I can agree with that.I think invading Iraq was a huge mistake. It was not cost effective. And troops were pulled out at a critical time.

The problem originated in Afghanistan, not Iraq. Given the right time and encouragement, perhaps Saddam would have been toppled by his own people.

I was wondering that about Libya.

Bush and his cronies lost it when they lost sight of what they should have been doing, fighting the Taliban and Al Qaida in Afghanistan, and went  on a fool's quest to fight Saddam in Iraq. Buncha fricking idiots.

Laughable......
While Bush was President we had the upper hand in Afghanistan.
See US Soldier deaths in Afghanistan under Bush vs "I'd rather be golfing or picking NCAA brackets".
Obama has lost more US Troops In Afghanistan in 2 years than Bush did his whole Presidency.
Bush left a democratic gvt in Iraq, NoBama will leave the Taliban in charge of Afghanistan.

Well ,.... when you carry the trash to the curb, do you carry part of it and leave some for the next weeks pickup in the house?
