When I buy into a fund, I expect to hold it for a minimum of 90 days. I do not rule out possibly bailing after less than that, but there is a small penalty that Scottrade and Schwab impose for early withdrawals, and I avoid all fees. So far I have not bailed, but there is always a first time..
Historically, high oil prices stay with us until there is a dip in October due to colder weather and the need to change the refinery settings to produce more home heating oil and less gasoline. So I am saying that I expect the high prices to stay high until mid-October, if not longer. The main fund I invested in RYVIX, also invests in drilling equipment and such, and I count on the management to shift the mix around to improve earnings. That is what mutual fund managers are for and why they are paid. I think prices will continue to rise slowly until August at least. I am not sure of what the high will be.
Civil unrest in Saudi Arabia or Iran could cause a more rapid rise, but I do not anticipate this.
The market is always a gamble, and this is not a major share of my investments.
