When people decide to throw these horribly expensive weddings, some cost over $40K, I can see why others would bow out of being best men or bridesmaids.

My observation is that wedding customs in the US are silly and expensive beyond belief, and they more planned by an official planner they are, the more expensive and silly they are.

These women have done their best to make dumb shit rituals into American customs: the groom must remove the bride's garter with his teeth: the couple must mush wedding cake into one anothers' faces. The few formal weddings I have attended were dumber than Letterman's Stupid Pet Tricks. And every one of these expensive weddings ended in a nasty divorce within four years.

I would have missed them altogether, but my ex forced me to attend. We are divorced, but it was not a nasty one.

the less formal one are more fun. the formals makes me just sit there and worry about my manners so I cant even enjoy the expensive dinner. I remember going into this magazine store and counted over 15 wedding magazines. weddings is the best scam around for making money. checkout the movie father of the bride. it points out the cost and the debt the father gets into and still it gets done. the debt is considered a inconvience not allowed to be a complaint

I find that one can generally find better films if one refuses to watch those that have the words "wedding", "bride", or "bridesmaid" in the title.

But i like bridesmaids, it also points out the costly obligation of being one. Those dresses are expensive and i believe this maybe the only movie that noted the cost to bridesmaid

The ostensible goal is to show the bride in radiant splendor, surrounded by her beautiful friends.

The apparent goal is to deck the bridesmaids out in expensive, yet hideously ugly dresses, so as to make the less than splendid-looking bride look good by comparison.

The unfortunate bridesmaids are supposed to pay for these unspeakably ugly dresses, which they will never wear again, out of their own funds.

Here in Miami there are consignment shops where troups of bridesmaids attempt to sell their frightful garb to new set of bridesmaids, but then size becomes an issue.

I don't have cable, and I have no desire to watch it.

Some women, goaded on by wedding planners, regard weddings the same way that some rednecks regard bass fishing. No expense is too great for some of them, no action is too absurd.
