This is not an Onion article.

The conservative commentator’s first point is that, soccer, as a team sport like none other does not showcase individual achievement as much as real American sports. Aside from the apparent fact she hasn’t really ever watched a soccer match, this appears to be classic red-baiting.
==================================================================================================

The primary purpose of playing sports is NOT to provide a venue for endless beer, snack and razor commercials, but to encourage exercise and communal spirit for young people. Sports should benefit the players, not the spectators. Plus, she is wrong about soccer does not provide an opportunity to showcase individual achievement. You can certainly recognize individuals better when they are wearing soccer uniforms rather then all the grotesque padding and helmets of NFL and college football. And there is rarely any doubt of where the ball is.

This is typical of the shit that Coulter spreads on a regular basis. She is famous for hating everything. Makes a person want to know where her lawn is, so one can dump on it.

I prefer this....2EachHis Own

BTW....the media is hyping soccer here for many reasons..
the Left probably likes it because it is a "one world" sport
that the US does not dominate....the Left loves it whenever
the US is not #1.

to some degree it maybe true but if you think about it that`s still a point against america. we can love our quaint football games but not too myuch on the global games. baseball and basketball is global and notice how little we cover those games.

Basketball is global. They play it all over the world.

Baseball is regional, mostly played in the Americas. Cricket is at least as popular in the world as baseball.

Football is just American. There are maybe two college teams in Mexico.

Canadians have their own rules.

Football is IDEAL for using as an hour of play to support four hours of commercials and  inane sportscaster blathering. And it is great for all the industries that extra concussions, broken limbs and lifetime knee injuries require as well as hideously expensive equipment.

Football is in a turning point right now . Strict safety regulation have been place to prevent head injuries and for some reason widely accepted. I say it like that because it was not long ago men in america would fight to prevent such safety regulation .

The worst problem presented by football injuries are those caused to high school and college athletes, who are never paid for playing and most of whom have no chance of making a career as an athlete. Pro football is a sport for the freakishly huge, and while these men also have a right to be protected from injury and compensated when they are injured, there are relatively few of them.

Many more boys and men are injured by football in school and amateur football. The value of the exercise is not enough to make up for the potential lifetime damage caused. The sport needs to be made less dangerous.

The USA team is doing well so far this year.

If the final game includes the US team , won't there be a lot of us watching?

Perhaps learning the rules later.

.the Left loves it whenever  the US is not #1.

Americans are somewhat absurd in their self-puffery. We call the  national baseball playoffs the "World Series" and yet exclude Japan, the Philippines, Latin America and all but a couple of Canadian teams. American pro football is played in just one country. Americans like to chant "We're Number One" when it's just "We're Number Only."It's a lot like the Russians claiming they invented everything, or the British being the only country that never puts its name on coins and stamps.
