Those signs in Arizona

http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2010/aug/31/signs-in-arizona-warn-of-smuggler-dangers/?page=all

http://www.limitstogrowth.org/articles/2010/09/02/blm-southern-arizona-is-dangerous-because-mexican-cartels-control-it/

The federal government set up signs at the roadside warning travelers that there is a large area of Arizona in which there was lots of crime and little enforcement.

This did not please a lot of Arizonians, it seemed as if control was being ceded to new authority.

Actually I think that Governor Brewer did not have much choice but to complain.
The Feds blocked her from taking more concrete action.

Is it fair to compare what the President chose to do with what other presidents chose to do , when circumstances might have changed?

Or is it fair to consider the circumstances first?

When things are getting worse perhaps the response should be proportional to the increased need.

The Government of Arizona is an assortment of dolts and clowns, Not sure of rhe governor, but the legislature is full of morons.

If the area is not safe, telling the public this is a good idea.

If a sign saves one life, it was worth it.

Would it be even better to have control of the border?

Congress will not vote funds to do this. They like to blame the President for the problem that they have caused by denying funds.

So this is the new tactic??  Why are we not hearing it on all the news organizations, that the primary reason our border is so out of control is a lack of funds??  Why are we not hearing the spokespeople for the Executive branch make it clear they have every intention of better enforcing the border, if it were not for a lack of more tax dollars??

Seriously....if that were the case, (congress denying funds to enforce the border), Obama & his official spokesholes would be pounding the podium demanding more funds to stop illegal border crossings.  And congress would do it in a heartbeat

But what do we have instead?....crickets, and demands that anything having to do with the border, also include mechanisms to legalize those who are already here.  We also get executive orders promising the golden egg, if you simply can get in......and hint hint......get yourself to one of our sanctuary cities.  Once illegally settled, we'll do what we can to transport the rest of your family into our country, for a proper "reunification"

That would be a different thing entirely. The route people drive through is optional. Living where their traditions are and their family and jobs are is much less optional.

It is the difference between you following a detour sign and being told that your insurance was cancelled and your mortgage was immediately due as a result.

It is not different at all for the people who have homes in the border area.

Most of this area is part of an Indian reservation.

This does not mean that these people do not count.

It only increases the Federal involvement in the failure.

The signs are the means to protect people.
No wall is going to stop determined smugglers from doing whatever they wish. This is a very, very long border.

I thought those Minutemen clowns were going to protect us.
