Could it be that there is no way the US will win an Iraqi Civil War? After all this is over, a majority of Iraqis will still be Shiites, just like Iranians are mostly Shiites. Iraq will still be smaller and weaker than Iran, and will still share a border and a religion with Iran.

Maybe if you could convert a majority of Iraqis to Sunnism, Christianity, Buddhism or whatever, and then get Iran to leave the neighborhood, you could crow about "victory".
