why you are a Republican
« on: November 19, 2008, 08:48:34 PM »
Dear Michael,

As we as a Party regroup after our near miss in the presidential election, we must reflect on what our Party has done well and what we can improve moving forward. It is for that reason we have created a new Web site for you to share your thoughts on the direction of the Republican Party. Please take a moment to visit www.RepublicanForAReason.com and create an account to begin the dialogue.

The Republican Party has always been the party of reason and hope, and I strongly believe we will continue in this tradition as we work to the future.

I thank everyone who volunteered their time, money, and energy to elect John McCain and Sarah Palin. It was a ground-breaking year for the Party on a number of issues and those milestones would not have been met without your tireless efforts.

Moving forward, you have the opportunity to reflect on the reasons why you are a Republican on this site.

I look forward to your input and your ideas.

Best wishes,

Robert M. "Mike" Duncan
Chairman, Republican National Committee

Why you are a Republican?

That's the question, isn't it. I was born into the party, but that party is long gone. Begining with Nixon, and carried on from there, the party adopted the worst that the Democratic party had to offer. Now the GOP is the Democratic party, and any self respecting Republican has left, or has one foot out the door.

There is no reason to be a Republican.

They are the Whigs of the XXI Century.

I don't beleive you understand Republicans.

Everything seems to be shorthand and second hand , should I beleive everything I hear about Democrats?

I understand that the Republican Party has outlived any usefulness it had a long, long time ago.
An opposition party is needed, but they aren't it.
Maybe if they became a party of real mavericks like TR and not bogus ones Palin, but McCain is now dead meat as far as the GOP goes. Bob Dole probably outranks him in influence now.

"why you are a Republican?"

because they tend to be the "lesser of two evils".

Plane it's not near as bad as it seems....

as lame as McCain was....just under half the country still voted for him

the next few years will be very, very tough, the Taxocrats will take alot of the blame

it took a Carter to bring about a Reagan, it will take Democrats in full control of DC to bring about a Jindal.

If Obama manages to salvage the economy, it is pretty unlikely any Republican is going to be permitted to borrow and squander all over again, they way that Reagan and the two Bushes did. The Republican Party no longer stands for any sort of financial responsibility in any way.

Mongering wars with lies and borrowing money from Communists to do it with was not a clever plan, and it certainly was not any sort of financially responsible activity.

Juniorbush's plan to attack Iraq as a reaction to the 9-11 attacks was a seriously flawed concept.

If we are safer now, it is not because of all that money and all those lives we lost in the Iraq War.

I am willing to give Obama a chance. If his administration is as well run as his campaign, he should do well.

I don't think that President Bush ever said that the ouster of Saddam was a reaction to the 9-11 attack.

If you think he implyed it or encoded it , then why wouldn't I think he had said it?
